Believe Me Chapter 26

They were happy she felt close enough to them so soon after meeting to call them for help. They wanted Bella to understand she could go to them for anything and everything and they would always help. They had thought she would prefer to go to the Cullen’s, likely to Esme or even Emmett and Rosalie, before she went to them, especially since they were so far away. So to get the call asking for help, it made them very happy.
It also sent warning bells off in their heads.
What could their daughter possibly be facing after being attacked by newborns? Could their daughter get no reprieve from the supernatural?
Thankfully they were old enough to not be entirely ruled by their instincts and waited for Bella to explain before they went racing off to rescue their daughter from what ever would be dangers there may have been. Thankfully, once Bella explained, they knew their new daughter was in danger and definitely wasn’t at risk of anything bad happening to her. Victoria assured them all she was more than aware there were no dangers around Forks aside from what supernatural’s they already knew were there.
Their daughter was distressed because her friend, someone who had helped her from the very beginning was being kicked out of her home because of who she had imprinted on. She wanted to know if there was something, anything, they knew that could help Leah and Esme. Bella knew Leah was a pack shifter, so being on her own with Esme would only be okay for so long. Eventually, Leah would fall into a depression from being so alone; regardless of having her imprint with her. It was only a matter of time.
While the Denali’s were still upset with Esme’s roll in what had happened with Bella in the early stages of Bella’s relationship with the entire family, they were willing to work past their anger to help their daughter’s friend. So, as they had already advised the Volturi their coven was growing by two with Bella and Victoria, it was only a matter of a phone call for them to invite Esme and Leah as well. Their coven would be big and the Volturi may not be big fans, but not only were most of them un-gifted but also, they were calling in advance to let them know and that in itself, would save them from being on the Volturi’s radar of being too big.
While the Denali’s really wanted to go to Forks to not only see their daughter again, but to also properly invite Leah and Esme to their coven, the fact that the Cullen’s, namely Edward and Carlisle, were still there the Denali’s opted not to. The Cullen’s were still there just long enough to not invite suspicion from the locals on Bella’s inevitable death and then they would all leave. From what the Denali’s had heard, been told from Rosalie and Emmett, the Cullen’s were no longer.
Emmett and Rosalie decided that since they had only ever been under Carlisle’s and Edward’s thumb since they had both been turned, they wanted to be nomads for a little and just experience what it was like to be vampires and to explore the world without having any restrictions placed on them from a coven leader and coven member. They wanted to be free like vampires loved to claim to be. The Denali’s, all five of the original coven, were already planning on inviting them to join their own coven and had in fact already received permission from the Volturi. Tanya was amazing by how little Carlisle followed the laws and how much he skirted around having the kings ire when he had stayed with them for so long. The difference between Carlisle and Tanya in how they led their covens was that Tanya actually over-protected hers whereas Carlisle gave too little.
Alice and Jasper opted to leave with Charlotte and Peter. Alice was upset to have lost her family, something she had wanted since she had first turned but she knew, as did Peter, that the two couples would be just fine together. They didn’t call themselves a coven perse, more like two couples who hung out for long periods of time before separating for a period of time. Alice promised to keep up her visions to make sure both Emmett and Rosalie and Esme and Leah would never have to worry about anything. Even though they were more than capable of earning the money themselves, if they ever actually needed it, it meant Alice would still have ties with them. As for Edward and Carlisle, well, Alice was sure they would be fine on their own.
The Denali’s hadn’t bothered to ask what Carlisle and Edward would be doing after they could safely leave Forks. In fact, none of the other former Cullen’s had asked themselves what the two men would do once they were gone. In all honesty, no one really cared what they would do after they left Forks. Everyone was not only disappointed but also upset with how things had happened and how little responsibility was accepted from their actions.
The Denali’s sent their invitation to Esme and Leah and with that done, the only thing they had left to finish was to welcome Bella to their home. It would be nice to have her home, in their home and to help her through her newborn years. It wouldn’t be the same as human parent’s raising human children, but it was the vampire equivalent. Vampire parents helping what was seen as a vampire child, get through their temper tantrums, learn to control their thirst and strength and everything else; as far as the Denali’s were concerned, they were raising a child, their child, just in vampire form. They couldn’t wait for Bella to come home; thankfully they only a few months to wait.
