One Shot Twilight - Bella/Heidi

She hadn’t even originally wanted to go to Italy to save him but when Alice begged and then promised to never interfere in her life again, Bella finally accepted. She would have rather stayed home and do some studying since finals were coming up but she would do what she could to get the Cullen’s completely out of her life. It also didn’t hurt that she had a soft spot for the distraught pixie. Even though she had the stupid decision to actually date Edward, she would make sure to never be that desperate to be nosy ever again, she was always closer to Alice.
Bella genuinely believed if Bella had been born in a different time, she would have had to have been Alice’s sisters. It was an instant connection between the two; they became best friends from day one; just like Alice predicted. Because of that connection though, the Cullen’s leaving her hurt more than she cared to admit. When Alice showed up afraid she had died, Bella almost forgave her instantly; that’s what sister’s did, right? But before she could actually give Alice forgiveness, Bella remembered how crushed she had been and how pissed she had been to be left behind.
Before they could talk about what happened, why it happened and all the feelings involved, Alice had a vision of Edward’s imminent death. And then faster than Bella could blink, they were on a plane to Italy with Bella making Alice swear up and down she would never leave her again and to explain anything and everything about why she had abandoned her.
Alice was worried her coven mate was going to get killed for no reason; Alice had a really soft heart and always tried to protect those close to her if she could. It was apparently something Jasper had been trying to work with her on but was clearly still a work in progress. Bella was willing to help her so long as it kept Alice near. Bella was loath to admit it but she was afraid if she lost sight of the vampires again, she truly wouldn’t see them again.
“Bella, I must be in heaven.” Edward said with his crooked grin, a grin Bella never liked as she always felt it was creepy no matter how many other students practically swooned at the grin.
Bella simply rolled her eyes and mentally questioned how any of her fellow students could fall for such a cheesy line, “Yeah, no. We’re both alive, now move backwards before we get in trouble.” Bella said as she fruitlessly tried to push Edward further into the shadow to be on the safe side.
“It can’t be, Alice saw you die.” Edward said with a smile, a dopey one if you asked Bella.
“No, she saw me cliff diving.” Bella corrected as she continued to try and push Edward back.
“If you don’t move backward of your own volition, we’ll make you.” A new voice said as she emerged from the dark shadows with a smirk. She was hoping the foolish young vampire would be stupid enough to let the sun hit him. As much as the queens liked his gift, not even Sulpicia’s desire for his gift would save Edward from being killed as punishment.
“Heidi, do you not have work to do?” Edward asked as he turned to face the new vampire, finally realizing he wasn’t delusional. He wrapped his arm tightly around Bella. The thoughts he was picking up from the Volturi fisher weren’t very flattering towards Bella and were highly concerning. Edward would do anything he could do to protect his human.
Normally Bella would shrug Edward’s arm off of her when he tried to keep close to her. As soon as she found out she was his singer, she wanted nothing to do with being near him. But her full attention was on the brunette vampire who showed up. The woman looked so confident, so sure of herself that Bella was completely transfixed on the woman. Even though Bella had only seen and heard all of two seconds of the woman, Bella wanted more.
“I believe I’m working now.” Heidi said with a lecherous grin. She kept her gaze on the brunette in front of her, trying and failing to use her gift on the human. It would figure her own mate would be immune to her gift. Well, any mate worth having wouldn’t be easy to catch. Heidi licked her lips as she spoke direction to her human, “And what is your name? I don’t believe we were expecting you to show up with the young Cullen.”
Edward had to fight to keep his growl out of his tone, angering even just the fisher of the Volturi could result in dire consequences for him and his coven, “Her name isn’t important. She was just leaving now with me as my business is finished in Italy.” Edward would make sure not to return to Italy for at least a century as soon as they got out of there.
“No, you will both be coming with me.” Heidi said, fulling aware that her mate was no longer allowed to leave her sight for her own sanity and because there were consequences to be face since the human Edward was so concerned about was clearly still alive and aware of what vampires were. Things didn’t bode well for Edward and his family.
Edward opened his mouth to retort, but another new voice beat him to it.
“Why don’t we go say hi, Edward?” Alice said with a smirk, confident they, as in her and Bella, would be okay. Alice and Jasper weren’t turned by Carlisle and therefore the Cullen’s didn’t know everything about Alice’s past before joining them.
When Alice was first turned, her maker had been killed by another vampire and the killer hadn’t bothered to stay with Alice. So, Alice woke up to her new life with no memories of being human and no idea about the bloodlust she would face when she first felt the flames in her throat. Alice had killed a lot of people in that town and because of that, the Volturi paid her a visit. The instant she met eyes with Queen Athenodora, her fate was sealed.
She was adopted, as much as adopted a vampire could do in their society, as the queens child and was taught the proper ways of being a vampire. It was only after she got her visions of Jasper, and later of Bella, did she decide to leave Voltera.
It was only now she was returning after quite a few decades. She knew both she and Bella wouldn’t be leaving the castle and that was okay. They were both home now.
“None of that can be true.” Edward said as he read Alice’s thoughts and saw all the lies they had been told throughout the years. How could Alice and Jasper kept such vital information from the coven?
“It doesn’t matter Edward,” Alice said, predicting what he would say and want. “I owe you no explanations and I promise you, if we do not go, there will be more trouble for the Cullen’s.” Alice also mentally added, ‘Because of how close we were, I promise you nothing will happen to the Cullen’s as long as you do what you are told.’ Alice knew she could get her mother’s to bend to her will if she really tried; she didn’t even need her visions for that to happen. Getting her mother’s to agree to not harm the Cullen’s in exchange for staying would be an easy trade they would gladly do.
“Come with me Bella dear, we have so much to discuss.” With a mental from both Heidi and Alice, Heidi was able to pull Bella from Edwards side and lead the group to the throne room.
Bella may be mad for a little while about having to stay in Italy but Heidi was confident between not only her own mate bond but also the one Alice and the queens would have with her, Bella would get over her anger sooner rather than later.
The only she had to worry about was how to tell her current lover they were a thing of the past. Hopefully Jane won’t be too upset.
