I finally have all the electronics and hardware in place. 512 floppy drives, 16 hard disks and 4 scanners.
I have recently set up 4 old and large HP scanners - like the large one from previous Floppotron. They now have their own lights and the new controller is ready. The "central" controller which connects all of the "instruments" to the computer now have a nice 3D-printed case with labels. There are still some small software fixes to do. It works OK in general, but I have found a couple of glitches when trying to play MIDI tracks from the "old" machine that I will have to address next.
I have also ordered acoustic panels to put on the wall behind the instruments and some cheaper acoustic foam to stick on the walls which will not be visible on videos. This should significantly reduce the reverb which is problematic at the moment.
I will start arranging some music this month for the first videos and I'd like to ask you for some suggestions. In the first couple of videos, I want to cover something popular, a timeless hit that everyone knows - this should help me to get to a broader audience and show the new Floppotron to more people. I have something on my candidate list already, but maybe you will be able to suggest something better If you have any ideas which songs I could cover first, then please let me know.
