Added 2021-07-15 18:53:46 +0000 UTCI have just returned from my vacation and I'm back to work.
Things didn't go so smoothly as I thought and the device is still not fully assembled. The amount of manual work turned out to be overwhelming. Large underestimation. I was hoping to get it running in July, but unfortunately that's not going to happen. Late September or October sounds more realistic for now.
In the meantime, here's a first picture of FDD cabling. It's a third revision which seems to finally work fine. Every 8th drive has a small controller board which connects with next 7 drives and the adjacent board. 512 drives, 64 boards and 448 (64*7) connecting cables.
I will be working over the weekend and will get back you next week with some updates.
