Spider-Man: Across The Spider-Verse (2023) - WATCH ALONG

I was not planning to watch this movie this month however after watching "Into The Spider-Verse" a few months ago, I have been DYING to see this movie. I was not disappointed! VISUALLY just absolutely stunning. The way they utilize art to provoke emotion is just second to none. I know I don't watch many animated movies on the channel, but I'd like to change that. So if anyone has any anime movies that I absolutely NEED to see, any animated movie, please let me know! I hope you enjoy my reaction :D

This was a really fun watch along. I loved the movie the first time I watched it, but it's even better the second time around. It's awesome that you made a connection between Miguel's theme and Prowler's theme. I also like how invested you are in the movie and the characters. I could see your concern for Miles throughout the movie, and your reaction to the cliffhanger ending was priceless. Beyond the Spider-Verse can't come soon enough.

Kings thank you for the recommendations man. I feel so overwhelmed by all the anime out there and have not landed on a good place to start so I appreciate it! Have not seen Batman Under the Red Hood.

I loved that so much, he really did look like a newspaper/magazine cut out and I thought that was just so creative. I agree it is incredibly brilliant how each universe has it's own art style. There's a lot to admire about this movie, just like the last one. Very excited for part 3! hopefully those strikes get resolved

I'm so glad you enjoyed this Logan! I really love these animated Spider-Man movies they are just incredible!

Absolutely amazing movie Lauren. Every aspect was a feast...even the 'to be continued' at the end. Thank you so much for sharing this with us Lauren. Thank you for everything you do. Peace and love. ✌️❤️

My interpretation of Hobie Brown's look is that he looks like a photo collage cut out and photocopied like a band flyer from the 70's or 80's. Like 'zines were hand made/drawn/assembled before desktop publishing became ubiquitous. I thought it was brilliant how each universe had its own visual queue to tell you where you were without a character having to verbally do so. Gwen's home was pastels and watercolors, the 1940's earth looked like a comic strip on newsprint paper with its printed ben-day dots, lego earth was legos obviously, Nueva York was all bright lights and Syd Mead style machines and architecture, Mumbattan had like a golden/brown color palette, and evil Miles was neon and rain and purple/green Prowler colors. A sequel that exceeds the original. Part three is scheduled for release March 24, but may be impacted by the strikes. My understanding is they split this sequel in two when they released that had a lot more to say, so some of the work on it is already done. I think they did a great job on sound design too. Everything from the pop songs to sound effects to the really effective score. Marvel Studios should be taking notes.

Laurenn asking for anime / animation ... **inner monologue, my time has arrived** Akira is a must Ghost in the Shell, ground breaking for its time. Howl's Moving Castle, Princess Mononoke, Jin-Roh Wolf Brigade, etc. These titles tend to have more of an underlying theme or ethical ideology they are exploring. If you feel like getting into the more 'adult oriented' anime content that doesnt quite fit into the normal rating system, there are some graphic, gory titles, like Ninja Scroll, Blood: the Last Vampire, Fist of the North Star, Kite, Perfect Blue, Wicked City, etc. As a Batman fan, have you seen the Batman Returns 1&2, and Batman Under the Red Hood. Then there is the plethora of DreamWorks animations, like Kung Fu Panda, How to Train Your Dragon, Madagascar, etc. Those just developed into entire film series and serialized episodic seasons on streaming services. And then there are some pre-Disney dominance era, western studio animation titles from the 70s and 80s era, like The old school animated The Hobbit, The Lord of the Rings, The Last Unicorn, An American Tail, All Dogs Go to Heaven, The Secret of NIMH, Rikki-Tikki-Tavi, etc. But, a majority of people are generally against animation, so I suggest getting some member polls out to see which titles might generate interest with the community.
