Loyalty Token Preview: The Forge Devil

Each month we want to show our appreciation to our continued supporters - so if you renew your subscription or have already subscribed for a year in advance, you will get one additional token each month!

Please welcome the Forge Devil!

Forge Devils revel in subjugation, be it the subjugation of elements within their hellish forge complexes, the submission of those who kneel to grasp a morsel of the forbidden arts and infernal intricacies of the Devil’s own craftsmanship, or the subjugation of entire peoples by armies clad in hellforged iron.

Like the Opulence Devil and the Gatebreaker Devil, the Forge Devil makes use of the Infernal Temptation Mechanic, offering your players pacts over the course of combat that will haunt them if they accept them! And because Devils don't play fair, they will haunt them even if they don't!

This mechanic represents the Devil's guile and its power to manipulate even enemies into possibly eventually serving the Devil, as they fall prey to its manipulative ways.

This ability is innate to many Greater Devil's, but this one is inherent to only the mightiest Masters of the Infernal Forge complexes:

Combining the mastery over its domain with a Devil's desire for domination, this ability will temper your player's temperaments, as they are placed upon the Devil's anvil themselves during the combat, as it tries to reshape them in a way it prefers.

But there are other, less subtle ways the Forge Devil uses to get what it wants. For example, a giant Soulforged Greatsword.

To further customize the devil or incorporate a narrative, you can imbue the Forge Devil's Soulforged Greatsword with a soul. This soul forms the basis of his weapon, and depending on which soul slumbers within the blade, it possesses different effects.

This is only part of the table, but it shows that if you decide to empower your Forge Devil with a claimed soul, each Soul has a different effect and even comes with a neat narrative prompt stoking your imagination!

But how does the Soul get into the sword? That's where the Devil's Soulshatter Anvil comes into play!

You'll study the dark lore of the Forge Devil yourself to see the true power of the Anvil, but it enables the Devil to shatter a creature's soul and claim it for further refinement and eventual transmutation into a Soulforged Weapon bearing the tragic victim's name during combat!

The Forge Devil is a magnificent foe, boasting a CR of 18 and more than three pages of Stats, Legendary Actions and Lair Actions, allowing you to truly convey that this half-molten behemoth truly is the master of its domain.

But of course that's not all. In addition to the Forge Devil you'll find a full page of spells and several magic items inspired or even used by the Forge Devil itself, so that if your players actually manage to claim victory over the Scorch-Iron Tyrant, it will feel worth it!

Spells like Magma Prison, Gunpowder Cloud or Detonate can be found within the confines of the pdf and will soon be available as Spell Cards as well.

If this seems a lot to reveal, be sure that there is even more to find within the release. The Forge Devil's stat block is absolutely brimming with power, there are loads of actions, legendary actions and lair actions to discover and to deviously smile about while rubbing your hands.
