They live a symbiotic lifestyle, traveling in clusters called regiments, and often engage in battles for other creatures in exchange for sustenance. This mutual relationship has raised questions about a possible feralization from a previously domesticated state. Typically, these agreements involve the Crawlers defending hives, dens, or even villages in exchange for food resources from their “employers.” This strategic approach secures their survival while allowing them to utilize their specialized defense mechanisms as living artillery.

The Crawler excels as ranged support for otherwise straightforward melee-centered encounters. Its symbiotic lifestyle makes every creature a potential ally, rendering the Crawler a flexible companion able to appear in various battles, from attacking a wolf’s den to storming a bandit’s camp, adding an extra challenge element to the fight by raining down bombardment and granting cover to allied creatures.
