Bard

Few things are as impactful as music, mere sound touching creatures’ souls, inspiring them, soothing or even frightening them. Within music itself resides an inherent power that can act as a catalyst, unleashing both subtle glamours or earth shattering spells. Not everyone can actively harness this special magic, but those who can, be it through the power of their genius, a grand personality or a deep understanding of the intricacies of the acoustic arcana, possess great power, whether in social situations or on the battlefield.

First off, the Bard decides which theme music is suitable for an encounter, choosing from a set of different buffs and debuffs affecting all creatures. During combat, the Bard uses different music-based magical effects to support allied creatures or negatively influence its enemies. Over the course of combat, the bard draws inspiration from heroic or tragic moments and relays this inspiration to its allies, while dispelling enemy magic with disharmonic sounds or even copying their spells by analyzing their tonal structure and transposing it into music.

On its own, the Bard can be annoying, but not really dangerous - except it manages to transpose a particularly devastating spell. They can’t really hold their own im combat and need some muscle (other otherwise offensively oriented opponents) do the actual damage dealing. What they do is make things shake things up a bit, with their Background Songs shoring up the chances for critical hits or introducing actual critical failures, or influencing the encounter in other interesting ways. You can run the Bard on almost every level, as they don’t actually deal damage (which can ruin low level parties).
