On one sunny day, Eva managed to convince Cynthia to follow her on a shopping trip to the grocers. Cynthia still seemed wary of the outside world, but she finally went out, cloaked in a hoodie.
Eva talked to her throughout the shopping trip, showing Cynthia where she usually buys their food and sundries. Cynthia appeared bored most of the time, then wandered the shops on her own, perking up when they passed by the butcher’s stall.
“Hey, Cy,” Eva suddenly said in a sing-song voice behind her, “Wanna have Mr Eggplant for dinner?”
Cynthia turned to see Eva cradling an odd looking eggplant, which looked like a long face with a bulbous nose. A sudden memory stirred within Cynthia, the shape reminding her of something far less innocent. Seeing Eva holding it so, unaware of the double entendre, made her chuckle.
The joke flew over Eva’s head, but she was glad to have her sister finally laugh. It was the first one since the night she returned to her. Taking her response as a “yes”, they checked out along with other essentials, Cynthia’s mood greatly lightened.
Perhaps living like this is better, Cynaith thought, forget the conquest, forget the fighting, just a simple life with Eva.
However, as they passed a row of televisions showing the latest news, an image caught the attention of the symbiote living within Cynthia. The news was showing the first photo taken of the local vigilante, the Black Devil. Cynaith have heard Eva mentioned it, but didn’t give it much thought.
Cynaith froze in her path, staring at the image of Tylix splayed across the TV screen. A deep well of hatred surged within her, the memory of her defeat resurfacing. The cause of her failure is now brazenly flaunting her powers in the public. Her hand lashed out in a flash, smashing the offending image and the TV. Cynaith quickly resumed her steps behind Eva, before anyone noticed the damage.
NO! This will not end like this!, Cynaith seethed with renewed purpose, dark thoughts now corrupting the “love” she have felt for Eva.
