The Mob Strikes Back - Page 1

Frank takes another sip of his black coffee as he trudges up the dark alleyway, the warm brew the only thing keeping him up through another late night of work.

At the end of the alley, two gangsters stood watch over a backdoor, their eyes on him the moment he passed through the first round of guards at the mouth of the alley. Security has been tightened since the Black Devil had begun to disrupt the Mob’s operations.

Frank let himself be patted over by one while the other kept watch, gun in hand as a reminder and a warning. But Frank was a semi-regular visitor, so he passed by without much fuss. He was here on the Boss’s order anyway.

Passing through a few more doors and guards, Frank finally came upon a dimly lit meeting room, filled with the scent of cigars and liquor, where the Mob’s inner circle are waiting for him.

The Boss, Cormac, seated at the head of the table, was in a discussion with Marcello on his right. Marcello was considered the Mob’s Accountant, owning a chain of nightclubs and various businesses, some of them actually legal. A businessman through and through, his skills with manipulating the ledgers are what kept the Mob running smoothly.

Beside Marcello was Laura, the acting President of the city’s largest biker gang. Laura’s group are in charge of the Mob’s logistic network, their bikers discreetly carrying hundreds of goods each day throughout the city. Laura appeared bored at the meeting, but her eyes followed Frank carefully as he came in, the ex-military sergeant always ready to strike at a moments notice.

On the Boss’s left, Madam Tang chipped in with a few of her comments in their discussion. Seemingly the odd one out with her expensive attire, Madam Tang actually held a considerable amount of power among the city’s elite. Her husband’s PR company gave her access to various celebrities, politicians, and the very wealthy, who came to her for discreet drugs and other illegal means of entertainment. If there are strings that need to be pulled in high places, Madam Tang is the person to go to.

Finally, on her left is Connan “the Barbarian”, Cormac’s cousin, Head of security and weapons procurement. Connan is a man of action and little words, and his muscular build and scars attested to a lot of action. The recent weapon smuggling thwarted by the Black Devil was a hit to his operations, and he has been itching for revenge since.

Cormac concluded his discussion with Marcello not long after, and motioned for Frank to report his findings. Together, these 5 members control most of the city’s underworld, and tonight, their attention is on how to remove the recent thorn in their sides, the Black Devil.
