Rick urged the officer who was driving to go faster. They were at the head of a small convoy of police cars, sirens blaring into the night as they sped towards the Docks.

Officer Tyler's disappearance a few months ago had rocked their police station. Many officers and detectives had offered their help to investigate, but soon the Feds moved in and took over the case, and no more was heard of her... until tonight.

When the dispatch came through, Rick and others who were on duty leapt into their cars, making a mad dash to the scene. The Docks was a big place, but there was smoke visible on the horizon, coming from the southern piers. Knowing Tyler, Rick was certain that was her doing.

Tires screeching as they sped past the numerous shipping containers, they finally turned into the road between the piers and the warehouses. Rick spotted the source of the smoke, a boat on fire at the ...

"BOOOOM!!!"

An explosion lit up the twilight sky, the warehouse opposite the boat erupting in flames and falling metal. The police cars braked to a sudden halt as the thunderous roar swept through them, the shockwave sending debris pinging against their windshield and cabin.

For a moment in the flash, Rick thought he saw a dark humanoid figure outside the warehouse. But then the explosion and fire had messed with his night vision, as he blinked and looked again, it was no longer there.
