Reminder: Apple Tax
Added 2025-02-27 22:53:46 +0000 UTCI don't necessarily know what Patreon tells people who aren't creators at any given time, but I just got a reminder about this and I'm passing it along to you all: Apple's in-app purchase fees are live, now. If you're thinking about supporting, now or in the future, you might wanna do it through a web browser instead of the Patreon app, as Apple now piles a 30% fee on top of my subscription price.
Creators don't see a penny of that. It's a 100% wasted convenience fee that goes directly to Apple for the dubious privilege of being a flower in their walled garden. Current supporters won't be affected, but if you have to unsub for any reason and decide to come back later, the fee will apply.
Again, it only applies if you sub through the mobile app. Doing it through the web browser won't affect you.
It isn't the worst thing in the world, it's just something to be aware of if the appropriate posts on socials haven't somehow crossed your dash yet.
