“I just wanna experience the yearning, man!” Elliot exclaimed. “Just once in my life I want that experience of a yuri protag.”

“We literally don’t know any girls who will talk to us and also you’re a guy,” Owen pointed out.

“Yeah, well, there’s some manga that’s basically yuri but between two crossdressing guys. Close enough,” Elliot said.

“Send me a link?” Owen said. “Also, no, dude, I’m not gonna dress up and go on a pretend date with you.”

“Dude, you can’t just show up to my work dressed like that,” Owen hissed at his friend, glaring over the Starbucks counter at Elliot.

Then Owen suddenly straightened up and asked, “How can I help you today?” in his best friendly corporate customer service voice. Glancing behind Owen, Elliot saw that Owen’s shift manager had emerged from a back room.

“Uh, yeah, could I get a cloud macchiato?” Elliot asked in his best sweet, girly voice. He’d practiced an “anime girl” voice a fair amount because it was a great way to annoy Owen, so he thought it came out pretty good. “Also, your number, teehee.”

Owen, using an inconceivable amount of self-control, didn’t facepalm. “I’m going to kill you later,” he muttered to Elliot through gritted teeth.

“It’s a date!” Elliot said brightly.
