Pengy's Departue

Hello, my lovelies!

As our summer comes to a close, we also come to a bittersweet ending.

As of this month, Princess Pengy--my assistant for the last considerable while, as many of you know--will no longer be performing her duties as Avian Secretary. This is due to a single factor: Money. I am officially living paycheck-to-paycheck, and I can no longer afford her services at the rate she deserves.

I am honestly not sure how this will impact productivity, but it's likely to slow me down a fair bit. Bookkeeping is the part of this work I'm the worst at, and it's caused me no small amount of burnout in the past. Simply posting a story across five websites and then promoting it on two platforms might seem easy, but that barrier has frequently just led to me not sharing completed works with people at all. Expect a lapse in output for a while.

That being said, I'd rather not focus too much on the bad here. This Patreon is first and foremost to let me keep writing, and I'm not gonna stop doing that anytime soon as long as it keeps bringing me and you all joy. <3

I want to express my gratitude for Pengy and her over two years of service. The Esteemed Avian Secretary has tirelessly kept the chapter output smooth and consistent, handled scheduling, and done... so much crossposting for me. So much. That's not even getting into the spreadsheets. Don't get me started on the spreadsheets.

This is to say, Pengy has been really valuable for me. She's also been very patient about missed payments and a fine unofficial proofreader. She is a pleasure to work with, and I am grateful for her help. I hope to be able to employ her again sometime when my financial situation has eased up a bit, as I truly hope it will.

Until then, we will remain fine friends, and I will remain grateful for what infrastructure remains in place from her efforts.

I want to open the floor for her to say her piece.

★ believe me, I'd keep at it if I could—getting to help GG with weekly output and contribute to big resources like the character database (and several backend tools that'll hopefully be of at least some help even after I'm gone!) was a great way to contribute to her work, even if quite a few medical scares got in the way! it was also just kind of nice to be someone's secretary? gets the brain going in a good way.

regardless, you've all been a pleasure to work with in all the ways that I've worked with you all! and I also hope you make sure to keep showing your appreciation to my lovely goblin friend after I'm gone; being this kind of independent creator can be a lot of rough work, so you'd better be nice to her, you hear me!! you'd better!!!! ★

I will be taking the week to get things reorganized, and then expect to see a new Intrepid Pawns chapter very soon!
