Photos from my trip to Dublin.
I met up with family in Ireland, met some sweet young cousins who wanted to sit next to me at breakfast, at dinner, in the taxi, hold hands, ask me a million questions, help me get apple juice, hug me a lot and keep telling me that they loved me ❤️😭 They were so sweet.
I kind of burnt the candle at both ends this week, I did press, podcasts, Irish tv, watched England burn, got involved with stop fascism groups, heard a fascist march/riot was planned for the literal street I grew up on, felt close to tears all week really. Too many words to say on the feeling of seeing racism we haven’t seen in England since the 70s really come to action. But then felt relief and pride to see anti fascist marches and protests outnumber the far right by thousands. I went out til 4.00 am with Irish musicians I met that same evening, got introduced to the idea of ‘trad porn’ something I didn’t know I needed so badly. Sang tunes and watched Irish musicians play at someone’s house til the early hours and laughed til my throat hurt. I desperately needed to blow off steam after all the anxiety of waiting to see what violence would commence. Racism we haven’t seen in England since the 70s. I keep telling myself that. And there it is, has been, brewing this whole time. Then I got up early each morning to spend time with my sweet cousins and now I’m back in the UK and about to head to Cornwall tomorrow for a festival without boom yet again. And finally my butt graced the internet and I became vocal about gender and trans rights and feminism. I’ve been invited on to news night to discuss it further.
The emotions are running high, I’ll be glad to see the sea. Should I move to Ireland soon? Xx
How’s your week gone?
