Preview: Rise of the Dragon King
Added 2025-09-20 20:10:53 +0000 UTCAlright, here's that writing preview I promised! This includes 10 chapters (prelude + Ch 1-9). It's about 47k words and 142 pages (in word), and I think it gives a pretty good idea of the story.
Preliminary back cover copy:
"If there is aught you desire, you will needs but devise a design by which to take it—for, with my power, naught shall truly be beyond your reach." The allure of that promise would never have been small, and yet, there is much indeed for a man to desire in the city of Heliopolis, crown jewel of the desert. Leo came to the desert as a stranger with little more than the clothes upon his back, drawn by the endless opportunities it promised... and there, he came into a power more profound than he could have truly imagined, in his pact with the ancient draconic Titan, Zethraxion.
Yet the perils of the golden desert number no fewer than its riches, and many are those who would usurp such a power for themselves. To survive in this land of gilded secrets and deadly intrigue, he will need more than power—he will need wealth, influence... and, perhaps, a Circle of women daring enough to share in the power and danger of his pact alike.
I've done a fair bit of editing, but typo reports are always welcome etc. XD
More substantially, if you'd like to provide feedback, the things I'd be interested in hearing about (no need to address them all if you reply, of course, any thoughts are appreciated ^^):
Did you enjoy it? Of course, this is the most important question XD
Related to the above: What genres do you usually read, just for context?
Overall clarity. There are a lot of concepts to introduce, and I've tried to do that without bogging down the narrative. Did things make sense as presented?
Any other thoughts are of course more than welcome, though. I've included it in four formats below. This is my first experience making epubs/mobis, so if either of those have issues, let me know what's wrong here or on discord and I'll try to get it sorted.
Comments
Noted. Would it be significantly beneficial if I added them? I didn't try too hard after it didn't work at first, but if they'd be significantly helpful to you, I can.
