Preparing a print comic
Added 2019-11-25 17:10:23 +0000 UTCI actually cleaned my "studio" (3 desks with many toys) out in favor to fill everything with comic stuff. Making preparations for everything like planning page count, page format and will make a list of content.
Just wanted to share this photo with you because it got me SO excited to work on the real deal - a printed graphic novel full of ADHD. It's just a fake mock-up to see what format I'd like, but it's so...surreal? To see this happening?
And I need you all to know that this is entirely because of all of you supporting me. Not only did you allow me to quit my job to actually make this, but you are interested in my content (which is literally my daily life), you are writing me messages of support and sharing my stuff. I never would've thought anyone would support me, heck, even accept me if they knew about my most genuine moments of struggle. So, thank you.
Ah also, would you be interested in seeing more process of how I plan my days and how I make a comic from start to finish? From rough layouting to sending it off to print?

I am so happy to have discovered your comics from a recent article on mashable that a friend shared to my "differently wired" parenting group. My husband and I both have late-in-life ADHD diagnoses (along with anxiety and depression), and now we are also working to support our daughter who struggles with the very same issues. She loves graphic novels like Smile and El Deafo, and I know she will especially love seeing your work and finding so much that we can both relate to about the experiences you are sharing here. I really hope your book plan works out - we will definitely buy it and give copies to family, teachers, and therapists! There is so much still that people don't understand about ADHD despite all of the recent updates and research available. It is so hard to live in a world that shames and misinterprets behavior so brazenly. It helps immensely to know we are not alone and that our experience of the world is normal, too. Thank you for sharing!!!

2019-12-14 16:35:48 +0000 UTCI'm a little late to the party but I want to chime in with a big YES of seeing more process posts! :D I'm recently diagnosed and one of the revelations I had while doing research was that it's often hard for some of us to visualize the steps it takes to get from start to finish. I was like "Oh. That explains some things." >.< And gosh - a printed graphic novel would be wonderful! :D <3

Last week I "came out" to my best friend as ADHD, and his first reaction was a classic: "What? How did your therapist come up with *that*, you're not hyperactive At All." Sigh. Plus, he's pretty adverse to ebooks, webcomics and the whole social media thing (he mainly uses the internet to watch restoration project videos on youtube) so it'll be good to have something physical to hand him to explain the fβ₯β₯k up that is my daily life. So yeah, I'll definitely buy it. Will there be a German version as well? :o
