Researching & sketching for a 1840s dress (lofi, unintentional ASMR)

Here's something I hadn't originally intended to record, but I decided at the last minute to quickly set up my equipment. I wasn’t sure I would edit/post it, because it’s quite fast (my « normal » speed!) and some sounds are a bit harsh (pencil & mouse clicking). So, not really an « asmr session », but rather a video showing the raw process of costume research / amateur design.
I know some of you enjoy this « talking/pausing » style (I personally get lots of tingles when GentleWhispering does this), so I’ve given it a chance to reach you 😃

I’ve been wanting to set a video in the 1840s for a very long time, especially because it’s one of my favourite periods in historical fashion.
Although I’ve only got very rough lines for this project at the moment, I need to think about the costume several months in advance, as it will be custom-made by a seamstress, and creating a dress pattern from scratch can be a fairly long process for her.
It may be an Autumn project, and of course I’ll keep you updated 🙂

At the moment, I'm fully committed to the remake of my very first roleplay (Middle-Earth shop), and although the theme remains the same, it’s going to be very different from the original one, and I’m creating a lot of props for it! I can’t wait to share them with you 🙂

Have a wonderful night / day!

I love to see you draw and search for inspiration and the perfect design ! Beautiful sounds. It make me want to do the same just for the pleasure of sketching :) It must be magical to do this knowing it will be an actual dress some day !!

It's the Western Fashion History by John Peacock, there have been a lot of reissues so I think you can easily find it! If you'd like to see more of it, I show it in an older video, starting at 26:30: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2ooia1zuzQg&t=415s&pp=ygUOYXNtciBhcnQgYm9va3M%3D

Oh my gosh, what is the name of the book you are referencing? I love fashion history and need it for my collection!

Utterly fascinating!! ♥️ Reminds me of watching La Belle Noiseuse in an art house theatre in Chicago, circa 1991.
