For the King : Behind-the-scenes and outtakes

Hello!

As promised, here's the making-of of the latest roleplay. It mainly focuses on the making of props/set elements. You'll find a few bloopers at the end 😊

And here's an anecdote about the opening scene:
My husband and I were filming in a part of the forest behind our house. What we hadn't predicted was the fact that at some point hunters would be hunting nearby. Hearing the shots so close to us (and they had no idea we were there, it was a pretty isolated spot) and even seeing a huge hound suddenly appear right in the middle of the 'battlefield' was very stressful (and I don't think my armour would have helped!). From then on, I filmed much more quickly, and I didn't even have to act stressed when "I heard Brenna" running towards us. 😥
The funny thing is that, looking back, I didn't really know what scared me more: one of us being shot, or being seen in my armour by a bunch of complete strangers and feeling totally silly.
(We finally heard them move away from where we were and we were able to tidy the place up with a peaceful mind).

Have a wonderful day/night!

I hope that branch wasn't too hard ;) and that visious sun, unbelievable ! haha love the bloopers. I don't know what I would have been more afraid off aither : being shot or being discoverd, i can relate. Hopefully all goes well. Thank you for this BTS. I would have never though the opening scene is entirely dubbed ! Great job

Lüst

Thanks ! No plane, as written on the screen I had to wait for the sun to be hidden again so I could get a consistent lighting during the whole scene (and there was no audio recorded, the opening scene was entirely dubbed - sounds & voices).

Watching you create is a marvel in itself. I liked the music for the 2nd part. Very apt for the creation of a battle scene. Were they planes flying over as you kept looking up at a couple of points during the outtakes. I don't think the Armee D L'air was formed in Medieval France so can understand the omissions. I so much look forward to your creations. You are such a ray of light Diane x🧡

Thank you so much for the BTS! Amazing attention to detail and of course the final film was wonderful. What I find so fascinating is how armor stands have not changed over the centuries (I’m a retired US Marine, and we use pretty much the same cross stand to hold our modern day body armor and helmets).

Janine Spendlove

Ahah if I had a bit of nerve that could have been very fun indeed!

I love the behind-the-scenes and making of videos because it shows just how much work is involved in simply setting a scene or creating a set. The creativity and ingenious thought process is amazing in and of itself, but it shows clearly how many hours and hours of work go into the details. In appreciation of your talent, there isn’t a night that goes by that I don’t fall asleep to one or more of your videos. You truly have a flair for the arts and it shows in everything that you produce. Sometimes it’s hard to imagine that it’s the same person behind each and every one of the characters, because of what you put into each one and how very different they’re portrayed. I could write a book on just gushing about your art…… so all I’m gonna do is say thank you so much for all the time and effort and work you put into these videos. It certainly doesn’t go unnoticed and it’s definitely greatly appreciated! Please don’t ever stop creating!

I have always wanted to visit France, and so it is wonderful to see some of the countryside. It actually looks a lot like where I live in East Tennessee, which I also think is quite beautiful! I enjoyed every minute watching this and we are all so thankful you let us look behind the scenes of your masterpiece!

Melissa55

Such an amazing process that you go through - the thought and detail ! Love the outtakes too :-)

Oh my, I can't even imagine how scary that moment in the forest must've been, I'm glad you and your husband got out of there safely! The amount of (even still unseen) work and attention that go into your videos is absolutely incredible and impressive!

Sophietje

I can imagine how you felt. Well your acting was superb and we are all glad everything turned out for the best. By the way, You do NOT look silly in your Armor. Very much the opposite.

Scott Farley

This was soooo fascinating! Even your outtakes are expertly done with audio! You have a good sense about what needs to be perfect and what can be done fast and good enough. This craft is no place for perfectionists! That is a compliment, btw. Brava!

I'm SO glad you and your husband are safe!!! As for being embarrassed...I'd have just introduced myself as Joan and explained that you were building an army to free Orleans and crown Charles VII. I think they'd have backed away slowly and left you alone. ;)

Rhiannon Hutchinson

🙏 That was interesting behind the scenes

Asmr Relax PALC

This is awesome! Now I need to watch it again cuz after 3 watches I didn't even realize there were bodies in the background lol

Simply Rachael Studios

Thanks you for sharing, this was very fun to see! So much went into this video, it's great to get a glimpse of all the work you did. Looking forward to the next one!

Diane, I’m really sorry to hear the shooting of the scene was scary and stressful, we absolutely LOVE and appreciate the work you do for us, but please be careful and prioritize your safety and health ❤️

Leena Makke

I’ve always wondered where you get the elements you use in your videos, the fact that lots of them you creat yourself! That’s really wonderful🙏🏻
