Hi there !
So these last weeks have been a bit stressful and the studio renovation isn’t finished yet, we’re still waiting for the floor to be there… So I’m still recording in our living room. Hopefully I should be back in next week !
Meanwhile, I’m working on the Christmas roleplay (bookshop), and I’ve been struggling with the costume design, and wanted to share a bit of the process with you. As you know wearing costumes is one of my favorite part in the videos, so I always try to get everything perfect !
This time it won’t be a historical roleplay, but some kind of timeless, « country vibe » one. So the outfit had to be something timeless as well, yet with these cozy-old fashioned vibes I like so much, meaning natural and comfy materials : linen and wool.
My first intent was to get something victorian / edwardian inspired, with a blouse and a waistcoat, quite similar to what I wore in the wand shop roleplay, but when I realized that the blouse I intended to wear had shoulders pads (and these don’t look good on me AT ALL), I decided to go for something else.
My second attempt was for something more casual, with some « dark academia » vibes, so I searched for different pictures for inspiration, mainly from movies like « little women » (2019 version), « the bookshop » (2017) and vintage fashion blogs, and I made a few really quick sketches that included a sleeveless jumper, a cardigan and a linen vest. Then I scrolled on secondhand websites to find what could match my ideas, and tried different options, and will finally choose the comfiest I could find : with a cardigan (probably not the one on the last picture though).
Now I’m just waiting to get back in the studio so I can start dressing my set. I have LOADS of books stored in our bedroom. I will share a BTS video later, and will probably record a studio tour at the end of december, when everything is finished ! Thank you for your patience :)
Have a wonderful day 😊
