Hey guys, bit of an emotional one here. Caught up with our friend Budd Rodney, who by the grace of some higher power, is still alive. I don't want to spoil too much, but I hope you guys are able to take something meaningful way from his story. Viewer discretion is advised.
Also, if you'd like to buy his book, that would be awesome. It's available now: https://www.amazon.com/Kensington-Beach-Survival-Streets-Philadelphia-ebook/dp/B0FTYHZMZY/ref=zg_bsnr_g_3048891_d_sccl_27/000-0000000-0000000?psc=1

This is a wonderful piece. Great work Andrew & team.
Budd—you’re a special guy, with a very bright future. The depth of your courage, honesty, and generosity of heart and spirit on display in this interview is striking. You’re a good man. You’re also a super impressive communicator. I can’t wait to read your book, I’m sure it’s brilliant. You’ve got a lot of good to give to the world, and a lot of good to receive as well. Many blessings, stay up.

Always great to hear a perspective on addiction that doesn't pull any punches or have an agenda. Drug addiction, homelessness, and mental health are such complicated problems. It's good to hear solutions from those who have lived it and made it out. I find this honesty and perspective only comes from people with years of sobriety, typically within the rooms of Alcoholics Anonymous and NA. It's tough for an anarchist utopian, like Alcoholics Anonymous, given the constraints of their principles, to have any formal organizing that would move policy. I would like to see this happening with affinity groups, but honestly, I'm not hopeful. I think these problems will get worse and more terrible in ways we have yet to imagine. I feel all I can do to help while retaining my sanity and sobriety is to move quietly and kindly in my own life till the shithouse goes up in flames.

Hey Budd,
Great to see you engaging with the comments. Now that you've seen the interview is there anything you feel was left out or would like to add?

thank you andrew, c5 crew and budd! this has been a true reminder about the truth that lays in humanity, and it inspired me so much to fight for it, because it seems that while human history is always at the root of our own issues, humanity itself is also the source of hope!
thank you! C5 all the way, caus 5 is the best number

Hey guys, it's me! Ha. I'm going to watch this tonight with Brit (she's coming to visit for the weekend), and I'll answer any questions or anything if anyone wants to ask. Thanks, Andrew, for putting this up with the book link, so freaking cool!
As for haters talking about socialism and all that, I get it. Believe me, I do, this isn't ideal for me either. I can certainly say I'm thankful that those programs are in place, though.
I do have my parents' help, but if I didn't, I'd most likely still be stuck out on the streets or dead. I haven't read through all of the comments yet, and I'm sure there will be enough of that, but that's okay with me, really, it is.
At the end of the day, this whole thing stems from a systemic failure (or agenda?) and hopefully we can all find a better way to love our brothers and sisters individually--and besides, I'd rather be alive to read the criticism than dead any day.
Thanks for all the kind words everyone has said (that I've read so far), but I'm going to wait until later to read most of it because I'd like to go over it with Brit, she's coming up for the weekend.
Thanks everyone! And again, thank you Andrew, for deciding my story was important enough to share with the world!

Yeah, no, thank you. This was so cool for me to do, you have no idea. If you have any questions or anything, I'm an open book. Speaking of which, I hope you like it if you get it!

Thank you, Budd and Andrew, for this follow-up. His story stuck with me from the Philly episode, and I'm really glad we got to see him post-recovery and added commentary to the video afterwards.
Best of luck to you, Budd, glad you are out here writing and doing what you can, one day at a time.
Edit: Thanks for sharing the book link - excited to read and would really like to keep tabs with Budd.

I’m so glad to have watched this video because I realized I had an internal bias to assume that someone in his position wouldn’t be articulate

Thanks for keeping up with Budd. Only through the first 15 minutes but stories like this convict me to make more time to help.
