Here's our coverage of the scene on the ground in Petah Tikva, Israel where hundreds convened to welcome a spell of hostages that were released by Hamas in a ceasefire agreement. Unfortunately, this would be broken by Netanyahu's coalition shortly after, which will be covered extensively in our second installment.
In this video, our Middle East correspondent Agat Schwarz sits down with Luis Har, an Argentinian-Israeli national who was kidnapped by Hamas on October 7 and released after an IDF rescue. His story is a very unique one with significant historical value.

How are you talking about this topic without mentioning that Israel detains more than 500 Palestinian children every year under military law? Do these child hostages did not deserve your attention? Especially now, when Ahmad Manasra was released several days ago with star of david cut on his skull. He was detained at age of 13 and was released after 10 years in israeli captivity. 10 years of torture! You failed to even mention these children. Why are you fucking silent on the reason why Israel keeps thousands Palestinian hostages, including adults, every year? Why don't you mention that if you rape Palestinian hostages with a metal rod, then you can become almost a reality tv celebrity and you will be protected in israeli knesset. How are you talking about protests in israel without mentioning that in majority they are on the streets not because they are committing the ww2 fucking level of crime, but because they are concerned that leveling Gaza to the ground might hurt hostages and israel image? This historical event is the worst crime committed by humanity since ww2 and you have never seen horrors like this in your entire short life. If you stand on the wrong side - it would dissolve any good thing you did in your life. All the numerous cases in the past when you stood up for human rights, might be erased by this action. Because, every right of any imaginable social group is being violated in Gaza right now. Does it mean that every time when you stood up against injustice in the past was just an act of hypocrisy? In the west our voices as Jews and supporters of the existence of Israel get demonized by the left and exploited by the right. You are the first intelligent Gen Z person on the internet I’ve seen humanize Israelis and talk about real prospects for peace, you have no idea how much that means to me. The dehumanization of Jews and Israelis has strengthened and legitimized terrorists like Bibi and Ben Gvir among Jewish groups. As the Jewish leftist biker said in Aurora, fear leads to right wing politics. Much of the right wing in Israel is made of up Jews from Arab countries who are less educated, more religious and who still harbor resentment, fear and distrust towards the Arab world. While Palestinians are still being brutally oppressed we are actually a lot more similar than we are different and hopefully by you showing Israelis as human some more people realized that. We either learn to coexist or we fight forever. Palestinians culture is sick as hell, they have a right autonomy, prosperity and a future. My dream is to see Israelis and Palestinians living next to each other as neighbors and friends like my family did in Iraq for 2,000+ years. It’s more possible than people realize. Denying the Israeli perspective and demonizing Jews who support the existence of Israel, only strengthens Jewish support and legitimacy for genocidal terrorists like Bibi and Ben Gvir. The same way Israeli occupation and the dehumanization of Arabs in Israeli society leads to Palestinian extremism. Did you not see the thousands of Israelis in the streets protesting Bibi and calling for an end to the war? Why can’t their voices be heard? The professor at the end was literally romanticizing 10/7 and Hamas and advocating for a Palestinian state. In this conflict we either learn to coexist or we fight forever. Videos like this that promote moderate dialogue and humanity keep the Palestinian question alive, the sooner you realize that the sooner you’ll actually be supporting the Palestinian people.
