I just joined your guys patreon and am so hyped you guys made this video. I grew up in abq, living in LA now, and unfortunately my mom passed in abq from an overdose so this video rlly hits close to home. Thank you guys for covering this extremely important topic and diving into abq streets with an actual sense of nuance... Since its so bad no one cares to think about it beyond "damn abq is a shithole"... It's a beautiful place that's unfortunately stuck in the throes of poverty especially due to being one of the states w the worst public education.

much love for my burque. lived on 9th and coal, hazeldine, and several other shady nooks. those trips from abq to santa, and back, were so beautiful too. big up the sandia

I really appreciate the thought you guys put into this video. It's easy to just blame these types of issues on something simple on something like the individual or the government, but it really can be a complex web of intertwining issues. The fact housing was so fundamental in this discussion was excellent! Jeff is a real one and I agree with a lot of what he said. As housing becomes more commoditized and moves towards companies instead of individuals, it becomes another avenue of control in ways we may not think of in the short term.

As a resident of abq the streets over the past couple months have been cleaned up all over the city, less tents still roughly the same amount of homeless but a lot were pushed away from our downtown area since the national guard is here is plain clothes, more state police and undercover cop activity present though. . . since a lot of them have been displaced my question is where are they going/ being brought to?

That guy with the supportive housing program is exactly right. His whole take is as close to perfect as it gets. I’ve worked four years in nonprofit social services and recovery and that model is the only thing that works.
