Israel-Lebanon War (Part 1/3)

Hey guys,

Here is our largest and most ambitious project to date, which covers the ongoing situation unfolding between Israel and Hezbollah through the lens of three separate countries and four different production crews.

We pulled it down recently because we wanted to add in the academic perspective of Professor James Gelvin at UCLA for proper historical context.

Shout out to everyone who made this happen.

Hope you guys enjoy the coverage. More coming soon!

Tatyana

I used to be able to cast these to my tv and still can through YouTube, but not patreon. Wassup with that? It's easier to see on a big screen

Virginia Hanna

This one got the waterworks going. Where's the Pulitzer Prize?! Is there as way we can collectively push for Channel 5 to get a nomination?

Freddy Quinlan

Your work constitutes the last standing pilar of our democracy. Thank you for covering this.

Whatever you say Mr. Mehoff

Scotty Supermoto

Did youtube really take this down?

Jack

You're as gullible as most Trump supporters if you think he's at-all responsible for this, or that Israel will keep up their end of the bargain for very long.

Jack

Thank you fr!!

nias🪩

outstanding as always, especially looking at the targeted journalists

constance

Did YouTube delete this video?

brandon cardona

was half way through the video and went to bed. then rip. Had to come finish it off here

Thirsty_dude

Been meaning to sub on Patreon for a while, Channel 5 getting censored on YT reminded me to do it immediately. Good job shady state actors!

Johnny

This is sad.... What violated YouTube?

Jennifer

Thank you for this

allie gooble

the prof was saying something different - he was saying he doesn't care if what they're doing is technically "war crimes" - he thinks what they're doing is just as bad as any official "war crime" categorization doesn't matter just use your eyes

Nils

Your work is incredibly important. No one should be an arbiter for which voices should be heard and should not be heard.

tbh that’s exactly why. its a free military base and only real military outpost in the region which is extremely important for the US’ global power and it’s extremely destabilizing. The fact it’s such an evil country founded on atrocity necessarily inspires aggression from the surrounding region and political upheaval (look at Lebanon, basically doesnt have a government and the military is mostly controlled by a militia/relatively small political party). Destabilization is also a necessary component to the US’ grip on global power. The fact there’s a region that is constantly at war and is considered a threat to the security of all of the US’ main western allies means the private weapons industry will always be highly profitable and a profitable US based weapons industry both means a lot of money/power for a select few individuals and the government itself but it also means strong military might for the US. And if the US’ most important allies feel under threat and the US has a strong military that means its allies need favors and it can provide them those favors which obviously gives the US both strategic and immediate advantages. It’s the perfect cycle for the US, there’s countless benefits for the military industrial complex and therefore the US’ global influence at large. I think it’d be hard to argue that Israel’s existence as a colonial outpost isnt essential to the military industrial complex. And that’s why every institutional power in the Western world is so willing to turn a blind eye to whatever crime Israel commits. (I feel like that’s worth explicitly explaining before some nazi tries to twist the conversation to antisemitic bullshit) And unfortunately because Israel is that valuable to the West I don’t think history will truly reflect the inhumanity of it all until the Western bloc eventually collapses which I imagine is still a ways away but definitely could be wrong on that 🤷

Very dope

EverybodyhatesChris

he'll take credit until the cease fire is broken, then it becomes a "very bad deal"

DW

You have to wonder if the rest of the (Anglosphere) West is just using them the same way Iran is using Hamas/Hezbollah - as a third party "buffer" to weaken and distract their "enemies". Obviously there is a lot of military-industrial complex money involved as well. Will be very interesting to see how this is looked back on in 20 or 50 years.

Thank you Channel 5!

It is enough to make you go insane, the way Israel can just deliberately massacre press every day, in a manner so bold it is impossible for it to be anything other than deliberate, and yet nothing happens. The fucked up part is that it’s not just that nobody does anything, they go out of their way to protect Israel. Reuters, whose own reporters were murdered in the event covered in this video, don’t just take a neutral stance (which would already be heinous in its own right) they do everything in their power to defend the state that uses their journalists for target practice. Just a few weeks ago they fraudulently mislabeled a video of Israeli football fans rioting and beating innocent arab-Dutch citizens as a video of the exact opposite (Dutch citizens doing a pogrom on innocent Israeli football fans). Even when the lady who took the video wrote to them and said the Israeli football fans were the ones attacking and explained exactly how the footage proved that, Reuters ignored her and refused to retract. The result was that every major western news organization reported on this lie and Israeli got a bunch of free PR. Like how fucked up is that? It’s not enough that Reuters doesn’t really do or say anything when Israel massacres their own reporters, no they still go out of their way to deliberately fabricate stories to protect another country’s image. It’s insane Reuters whole thing is that they’re always the most accurate and the fastest news source that every other major news agency bases their coverage on. And yet even after another country deliberately murders dozens of their employees they are for some reason willing to put the reputation they’ve been building for decades on the line just to give that same country a few days of positive PR. Even the professor in this video was seemingly too afraid to flat out say that Israel engages in war crimes. Even though fucking Channel 5 could find an explicit and undeniable war crime in their youtube video coverage. The influence Israel wields is just so depressing

There's no evidence that Trump had anything to do with this ceasefire.

Tyler Barton

Did you read the news? Or do you just leave smart ass comments in stupid languages. Cease fire thanks to Donald J Trump 🫡

Great work channel 5!

DonettaTrump

It's a good thing war hawk Kabomba Harris didnt win. There's hope for these people now.

Scotty Supermoto

Just rewatched it. Incredible document. Also that target on the press... 😢

Enrico Ros

Very glad to hear of the ostensible ceasefire plans after watching this. Great journalism as always. Seeing the revolutionary fervor in Jawad's friend really explains why this conflict just keeps persisting (many Israelis likely feel the same as him). I am on the edge of my seat for the Hezbollah interview!

Jason Filloramo

This coverage is wild, keep it up. Your correspondents are carrying the Channel 5 name well 👌

Chris D'Antonio

This is incredible reporting. Top C5 video, prob top reporting on the middle eastern conflict.

Enrico Ros

We pay fair
