All forms of government have been built and sustained on bloodshed and suffering. If you could for one second realize that, you should come to the conclusion that maybe it's not the systems imperfections that suddenly ruin it's own intentions, it's the people in power who abuse those same imperfections to create wealth and power for the elite. The companies and oligarchs behind our elected government get richer while wealth inequality grows. The people in power have no reason to progress or even become a fascists state, it's most profitable in times of conflict, as long as we fight each other and not the global elite. As andrew points out in the video these people have been discredited by a deliberate ploy by the Us government to make radical leftist movements unstable and infiltrated. (This includes mlk and his civil rights protests. They are so eager to agree with his points on race but never mention that he was a far left activist. And the irony is at the time they did everything they could to demonize him.) The internal us government was pro segregation. Not even 75 years ago. How can we say we've moved past that if our current government is hardly any different in viewpoints and policies as the administration then. 75 years of stagnation, the only difference is companies have moved from exclusively exploiting a second class of people and to including everyone in this huge mess. "Make America Great Again" what time period in God's name are they referring to? Clearly not the slave owning America, or the segregated America right? Maybe just the Reagan administration alone? The one that ruined our economy by making it hyper capitalists garbage. Sure our gdp went up but who actually benefits from that, not the people with stagnant wages.

Nonetheless I get cult-like vibes when I see them all wearing uniform t-shirts that say "BA speaks" right at the top. There are similar groups here in Germany. Because eventually the revolution didn't happen, these groups from the 70s mostly dissolved quietly. But some found another source of cohesion in radicalization and orthodoxy, and by adopting other elements from cults. One of the members in the video calls BA "the most radical revolutionary", indicating a hierarchy that's based on the performance of radicalism. These mechanisms serve to insulate the in-group from the surrounding society. A consequence of this can be seen when the interviewed members struggle to acknowledge the strong tendency for post-revolutionary governments turning to authoritarianism in order to maintain their power. They downplay this core issue as non-systematical little slip-ups, or de-facto capitalism in disguise. People who use the term "epistemic framework" ought to have the analytical tools and vigor required to go into more depth here. Like I said, I mostly agree with their anti-capitalist theory and praxis. But no single group will be able to develop a blueprint for a better society. Truth is objective, but creativity and freedom are subjective. We need fresh ideas and helping hands from all kinds of people to envision and fight for the society that we all want to live in.

They had a hemp farm with one cow and that was taken from them by the government, that wasn’t long after Lenin’s revolution. I imagine that lady is going to back to the same consumerism and capitalism everyone else does. There are obviously chances for their approach being citizen focused and decent, but I would not advocate for an ideology based on books and faded memories. As they say in the history books always the winners were praised and said to be righteous. So I would take that with a grain of salt. I 100% agree with you! People in general but definitely young people (students of all kind) should keep pushing as they are the most vocal who can move voters by reasoning. I strongly believe if US wants to show the right direction for Democracy they should first of all drop the 2 party system(even in the smallest Democratic country there are at least satellite parties) and give a chance to Bernie Sanders who imo the speaker of reason.

Look into the presidency of Salvador Allende in Chile, or that of Thomas Sankara in Burkina Faso. Both allowed for dissent, and both were assassinated after only a few years. The CIA has confirmed that they played a major role in the assassination of Allende, and I wouldn't be surprised if they or another capitalist nation was involved in the killing of Sankara as well. Because of survivorship bias, the only long-term examples of communism we really see are ones that suppress dissent. But that doesn't mean we should just give up. A better world is always possible. We need to fight for real democracy in both government and in the workplace. Without both, oligarchy will inevitably spread from one to the other through capital accumulation, as we are witnessing in the US today.

Whether you agree or not with their idealized society, they're pretty explicit in it not being a repeat of past and present communist regimes and for it to not just become another form of subjugation.
