Uhuru Solidarity March

Enjoy our coverage of the Uhuru Solidarity March on the streets of Oakland, California. Our correspondent for this segment is our masked friend Sidam, a.k.a. 'Polo Cutty', who was previously a guest on the 'Brake Check Podcast,'  a podcast which unfortunately, like the All Gas No Brakes show, was forfeited to Doing Things Media as Andrew broke free from his 360 management contract. However, the bond between Sidam and the 5ive remains strong.

At the time of the Uhuru Solidarity March, Andrew was at the Antivax Rally in Hollywood, traversing the walk of fame with our favorite Trumper, Kelly J. Patriot (and his four-banger), where Andrew competed in his first ever reporter-on-reporter showdown with MAGA 'Reporter' and Capitol Rioter, Jess Weber.

Simultaneously, we sent a camera crew up to Oakland with Sidam to capture other side of California's political spectrum; Uhuru Solidarity, another band of radical mostly-whites with a lot on their mind.

This double-coverage was only possible due to the growth of this Patreon. So we just want to thank all of you guys for your continued support since our launch in April. We've put nearly all Patreon proceeds back into production and were recently able to hire our first full-time employee; a skilled, efficient editor who Andrew personally trained.

This new hire will make it so we can be much more productive, and overall, spend much more time shooting in-the-field, as opposed to being bogged down on an iris-blazing editing bender, which has been standard procedure for the crew since we jumped in the RV in 2019.

Moving forward, we're also considering adding more correspondents to the 5ive roster. Imagine an Afghan Andrew (or Andrea) on the streets of Kabul!! Or .. Mainland China. Who knows, the possibilities are endless.

Anyways, hope you guys enjoy.

-Andrew Nic and Evan

according to vcampbell8 its a sub group of the African People's Socialist Party but yeah youre right in fact its just a bunch of yte people feeling good about themselfs

kingmushido

What this video showed us: How White Americans will join nonsense movements and causes to feel better about their own complacency with the system. "I say Uhuru and march with other white people demanding reparations for African people" I'm a good person and I do my part to end injustice :)"

masteralltrades

Didn't see one Black American in this video saying Uhuru, I saw a bunch of White Americans saying it though.

masteralltrades

and why should anyone pay reparations to people from gaza or palestinians? jewish people aren't white and the EXISTENCE OF ISRAEL IS ACTUAL REPARATION

kingmushido

why do black americans allways think swahili is the only language to name their movements? swahili is only spoken in south east africa while most afro americans come from the gulf of guinea. there are like 1400 languages in this area you just need to pick one.

kingmushido

Hope we see more Sidam.

TriggerHippie

Can we please have more of Sadim. This was one of the best ones so far hahahaha

Daniel Baxter

Bro we need more Polo cutty coverage this was so good!

Literally none of those points make it not a complete joke of a movement. This changes literally nothing.

Kirk Garrison

im a leftist but also a spiritual absurdist and i believe in the absurdity of humanity and the human condition and i believe in clowning on everybody. not just for fun but i believe it is necessary on a SPIRITUAL level. but thats just me. but also its just fun, chill out bro.

Sid Mullendore

i agree to an extent but i think with the question he asked her, someone would find something wrong anything she would have said. and thats cool, thats just journalism hahahahaha.

Sid Mullendore

I like to just go to people at the covid protests and stuff like that in Vienna and ask them stuff. I can become central Europe Andrew if that's cool.

Evian Rave

@Evian Rave So far there has been about twice as many radical right videos than radical leftist videos. The vast majority of C5's audience seems to lean left as well, so it's just nice to see some variation instead of just creating another echo chamber.

AGM-Prism✦

There's been plenty of radical leftists before this upload

Evian Rave

Yo Alex since you're so knowledgeable in theory, can you enlighten us with the knowledge of how an economic system operates under socialism?

Brett Venable

If you don't like Hasan you can also check out ContraPoints, PhilosophyTube, Shaun, hbomberguy, lindsay ellis, thought slime, or khadija mbowe all on youtube. May I ask why you say Hasan is a shitty person?

Brett Venable

Yeah, I totally see your point. I didn't necessarily mean that the video or Sidam was clowning crazy hard or anything, but a lot of the comments here and on YouTube are coming off pretty strong. They would definitely be valid criticisms if they weren't missing 99% of the context, is all. And I know they didn't put words in anyone's mouth, they probably just chose some of the more outlandish clips to add. But that's entertainment for ya, I'm not complaining about that. Like I said, still a good video, it just made me a little sad to see these people kind of put on the same level of yikes as a qanon or antivaxxer. There are definitely extremes on both ends of the political spectrum, but I wouldn't say that makes them the same.

vcampbell8

Exactly, it's not like he put words in their mouth. He asked everyone what was up and got their opinions.

Magic Plants

i see your point but still think the criticism is valid. also they didnt really clown on them hard a few people definitely said some off the wall shit and overall it just seemed like an odd gathering and i agree fundraising in oakland for a basketball court in st louis is a little odd when theres a huge black community there that is being pushed out and could use resources.

Ovoid

this ain’t sidam, this polo cutty. Love that man

Ron

I wish channel 5 had taken like 30 seconds to Google the uhuru movement before releasing this video. Looks like they're under the leadership of the African people's socialist party, which means that all the large scale decisions and top leadership are 100% black led. It's literally white people doing the work that black people are asking them to. The party and main leadership also seem to be based in St. Louis, so it makes a lot more sense that they're sending the donations there once you find that out. It's not actually a bunch of white people building random basketball courts and calling it reparations or whatever, but they're trying to help raise money and awareness to help build an actual community center. Idk, I actually really enjoyed most of this video, but after looking them up, I don't feel super comfortable clowning on the movement. For the first time ever, I'm just a little disappointed in the reporting here and the fact that it seems like almost no research was done on what was actually going on.

vcampbell8

Hasan Piker is a shitty person

you look like an amazon package, a box. wii bowling lookin ass. get a strike with your bowling pin lookin ass.

Yeah sorry brother but this is absolutely reasonable. These people are a pArody of social and liberal movements today all by themselves. It’s nice for them to be outside creating SOME awareness, but they aren’t even providing benefit to those who need it most. The lady with the short hair had the most reasonable take. They just make themselves look silly. If a black guy showing up to report on An all white, reparation movement clowns on them, not his fault.

Zekey Beats

Nah man, they're calling out an organization that's ultimately not doing any good for the cause it's striving for. They're not making fun of them either really. Nothing like what you're saying it is.

you look like an amazon package, a box. wii bowling lookin ass. get a strike with your bowling pin lookin ass.

Nah I’m far left and this shit is embarrassing. Can’t call out absurdity on the right and ignore the hypocrisy on your own side. That’s what they do.

Kevin

i love this channel but clowning on sjw's hasn't been funny since like 2012. there's a reason h3 quit doing it, it's low effort and you end up attracting a fan base of far right weirdos.

Isaac

yeah right it's totally the same on both sides, these far left people are raising money for reparations (in a way that isn't very effective) and qanon supporters on the far right staged an insurrection which killed four people, hate immigrants, and want marshal law. totally equal extremes on both sides. what an oxygen thief

Isaac

get ready for a lot more peabrains like this dude in the comments if channel 5 decides to do more of these "both sides" videos

Isaac

Cutty wassup rack dat shit

d Watson

agreed, i love this channel and i've been following it from the beginning but if it turns into andrew trying to do "both sides" centrist crap then i'm out

Isaac

We love cutty

Michael Carvajal

We need more basketball courts!

Someone Somewhere

That bitch who said she'd like to be reincarnated as African American based on her experience visiting West Africa... romanticizing societies based on your tourist experience is the epitome of cringe, wtf

Sarah

when bitch hit that UHURU at the beginning, thought it was about to be a retard rally.

The Treasure

I think the best thing to understand is that there are belligerent people on both sides. When it comes to the wacky shit like Qanon or communism supporters, these are the ideals of the people on the farthest sides of the right and left, while the average persons political beliefs are the simple core values of a republican or democrat.

Sam G

Can I have $5? 🤣

Paul

if you'd like to learn some more about left wing politics check out Hasanabi on twitch. As a socialist I also think these reparation basketball court ppl are cringe lmao

Brett Venable

I bet some of these clowns gunna look back at this and be thankful that they were wearing masks to cover their faces up.

Jason

lol tight

Kevin Portillo

Just when I feel like the 'stop the steal' and 'antivaxxers' are pushing me further to the left, along come these people to prevent that push. I feel like I'm in a blender of idiocy these days, coming from all sides. Note that this doesn't mean I'm against reparations, but these people are just not capable of serious discussion

Matthew Kaney

Ben Shapiro won't let you cuck his wife. So stop trying. Go outside and step on some crunchy leaves for a change

Sidam was hilarious and the editing was great- Awesome work boys! Also that blonde woman was wearing a mask from @weardiop which is a black-owned business my friend started, super cool to see.

There's plenty of ethnographic work that provides far more complex insights than your facebook-level whining. Good on you for paying these leftist fellas who hang with maoists though, sure they appreciate the reparations.

Bravo! never missing

Twice Baked

Bro get the redpill out of your asshole and go watch the clouds.

swifthex

@DannyBuchanan Ahhhh yes the college freshmen Marxist who looks at the USSR with rose tinted glasses. Have you ever spoken to anybody who lived under communist rule and wasn’t working for any part of the government? I encourage you to have a conversation with them and then tell me if you still feel the same. See my family actually fled communist Poland so I have spoken to those people.

Alex Bishop

Except it isn't is it? Without capitalism hiding resources behind paper tokens and giving people the right to kick people out of their homes if they don't pay their monthly extortion rate there would be no poverty. If you want to talk about a system strengthening a country why don't we talk about the Soviet Union eradicating homelessness in a country that previously had constant starvation and was still ruled by monarchy, winning world war two and becoming the biggest global superpower within 40 years of existing.

Danny Buchanan

Real work on display keep it up yall

Eric D

Did you find this Patreon because you were in one of the videos?

jack

Sure he editorialized but they also played Aquatic Ambiance from DKC (big up to David Wise!)... But to your point, I agree. One of their strongest strengths is how they show (not tell).

Em El

I didn't think anyone else could capture the Channel 5 charm, but Sidam killed it! Would love to see more of him!

Sean Duffy

Bro chill it’s just a funny video…no one wants to read a Ben Shapiro rant based on high school level economic theory lmao

Jayson Allison

This was great content. I laughed, I cringed, good times all around.

Tigwyk

This funny, they’re marching for oppression while not realizing they’re part of the problem.

Phil MC

YouTube blocks them when they upload videos Unlisted for the Paetron version

C Gavs

Very funny and fair reporting. Sidam is a natural, please put him in more pieces!

A56KModem

This shit was hilarious everybody at this rally doesn’t know the first thing about economics and it is OBVIOUS 😂😭 good luck with taxing the rich they will just put their business and homes in other countries with lower taxes and we will enter a recession. Proposing communism? We would all be equally poor. There isn’t enough money for everybody. Bottom line is no economic system has brought more people out of poverty in the history of the planet than capitalism. It doesn’t matter if you agree with that statement or not because it’s a fact not a opinion.

Alex Bishop

How tf they figured the best place for money to go was a basketball court.....in ST LOUIS. "Heart in the right place" only goes so far, if you're a gentrifier the least you can do is try to preserve & take care of your local community first

Paul Tisch

So close, white folks, yet so, so, *so* far away.

Max Johansen

It’s not that they showed the left as being ridiculous it’s that they explicitly gave their opinion in the middle of the video, something they’d never done before and I feel like they shouldn’t do again. The great thing about C5 is how they let people talk openly while remaining objective and them explicitly saying they disagree undercuts that.

Ed

Bro they covered a Q conference and a recurring guest on their show says Kobe Bryant was assassinated by the Clintons. Backwards takes are nothing new for them.

Ed

this is taking me like an hour to watch, i keep replaying it and stopping to get more people

HB Steury Puget Sound

Uhuru my brothers! Their hearts are in the right place but damn, a lot of this is just a lofty unsophisticated emotional action where they know Black people were taken advantage of and kept down for so many generations and want to resolve that injustice but it's such a complicated thing to solve. I think the solution is an economic reset where we develop some transparent, open-source, fair economic system to replace the longstanding game of Monopoly that we continue to live under where the winners write the rules and never lose power or wealth. Taxing the wealthy is where we start under our current system though...

GM

I can't wait to see a Sidam and Andrew tag-team interview

Conor Boran

Why not?

Raj Doddi

This is fucking gold, please upload to non-Patreon!

Matt

man you guys are killing it, this about to get another couple million views!

Bradley Drew

Why Vimeo?

James Strain

Why Vimeo?

James Strain

Sidam is a nice guy. I hope he make more stuff on channel 5. The Uhuru thing seems a little dumb. I think the money should be used in some educational way.

Robert Adolphus

there were some weird and backwards takes in there. Especially the lady who said she wanted to reincarnate...

swifthex

Anybody who gets mad at this video is somebody who would have been at that rally unironically.

Richard Springfield

Big bro said ✍️can I have $5 I lost it

Ray

I mean I didn't get the vibe that Channel 5 are against reparations and I think the middle portion where he explains his stance on what's going on there lets us know he doesn't literally think they're trying to give all black people money individually. The $5 joke is both funny and it gives the protestors a chance to explain on camera a common misconception about the concept of reparations. I don't think anyone in the video took it as anything other than a light-hearted jab either. I think also its funny to show white activism in that light. It's a crowd of white people walking through a quiet park to a furniture shop and very few are originally from Oakland. I can't imagine Andrew making jokes like that, no, but I think each contributor gonna come with their own style and as long as none of them are getting aggressive or petty I don't see a problem really. Speaking as a white commy I thought the video was informative in its own right and I think it's a promising first video from him.

Danny Buchanan

While I agree with the direct critiques of the group laid out in the video, I think the video would be better without it. One of the things I really appreciate about Channel 5 is its objectivity and leaving the viewer to draw their own conclusions. When you lay your opinion on the movement out it undercuts your objectivity.

Ed

this is pure gold, from front to back the journalism is incredible and shout out to the new street crew interviewer/commentator. Great addition perspectively and comedically. What networks etc. don't understand is that journalism is taking the "good" with the "bad", and despite some of it seeming like a troll, those people's voices are at least "being heard", even "the way they were intended" one may argue. Much love and continued support <3

Gordon Davis

Sidam is an insanely good cohost, he seems to have that same knack for getting people to talk and respond to being interviewed while also having alot of his own personality

Wiezlol Biz

Agreeing with the video and a lot of the commenters. The hearts of the people behind Uhuru are in the right place, but the practical application is certainly lacking as Oakland gentrifies, especially considering Oakland's place in black history. Sidam is absolutely right that stuff like free breakfast programs or after-school programs for kids and all that are a lot better for the community than a basketball court on the other side of the country. It's like a church group going out to dig wells for rural communities in West Africa that already have a source of clean drinking water, or sponsoring a child with world vision. It's assuaging your own guilt while completely financializing your own contribution to the vague solution of a systematic problem. "It's ok, the people I support that are far away from me now have this thing I bought for them".

A treasure token featuring Spice8Rack’s face

they can show you that both sides are ridiculous at times, and that's okay.

PowerfulDragon

loved it .. keep it up !

Shout out to cash app

all the commenters in here bitching about "can I have 5 dollars" are narcs

Loren Carvalho

Medium funny

Onett

“Yeah…next time…😔” He knows that’s an empty gesture. The white has no true intention of paying their $5 reparation “next time”

Blake W. Morris

Sidam is hilarious.

Boblee

Good work as always but the "Can I have 5 dollars" bit stopped being funny after the woman explained that reparations need to occur through government rather than individual charity. These people's hearts are in the right place but the basketball court idea is hilarious.

Kyle Z

Hope to see Sidam as a regular feature he was great

Artem

This guy chewed on my pencil in class and then gave it back to me

Kid Kakona

IIT: Tell me you haven’t read “The Case for Reparations” without telling me you havent read “The Case for Reparations.” Sidam’s “can I have 5 dollars” bit is a just a tad condescending which is something Andrew hasn’t really done. I loved AGNB and C5ive because it enables passionate people to talk about things to such an extent that they themselves reveal how out of line they are with centrist politics. Take cheap shots at an event with Left-Far Left folks isn’t funny or charming, it’s just easy.

Amir

love this

i've lived in the east bay my whole life, you can tell right off the bat that these people are not local, they don't know where/how to effectively protest around here, and they didn't bring any black voices from the community. not to mention that st louis shit is hilarious.
