Darkside of The Rainbow, to tide you over

Hey folks! Sorry for the lack of an update in June... I have been super-behind in life over the last week. :p I really meant to post a new reconstruction on July 4th (for a reason you will understand soon enough). Hopefully this can tide you over until the next reconstruction (dropping maybe this weekend hopefully), which is a little something I was working on back in March...

Probably a lot of you are aware of The Darkside of The Rainbow-- a synchronicity of Pink Floyd's Dark Side of The Moon and the classic 1939 film The Wizard of Oz. I did it myself as a teenager back when this theory first emerged, circa 1997-1998. I somehow NAILED it and it truly amazed me then... but ever since, I've never seen a sync of the two that quite matched that wonderful first attempt I made over 25 years ago.

Why? Because I was playing whatever 90s-era CD master of Darkside I had, along with a VHS copy of Wizard of Oz that was probably dubbed off of HBO in the 80s. Let's not forget that there are a TON of variables for the actual sync that will in effect make each playback experience slightly different-- and either more or less successful. I also might have missed the "third lion's roar" by a second or two, which surprisingly matters!

So what the hell is the point of this here? What I have done here is, using the most recent digital sources of both media, synced the two to give you THE MOST amount of synchronicity. I painstakingly toyed with the alignment of Darkside of The Moon as the soundtrack to Wizard of Oz, shifting the entire album microseconds at a time to make the perfect sync. I have not edited the audio in any way and have not edited the video in any way; I have purely adjusted the specific start times of each side to maximized enjoyment of the synchronicity.

Whether this was intentional or not by the band (I personally don't believe it is, due to the aforementioned variance in media playback), this is still a really fun thing I hope you enjoy.
