Playtesting the AtR board game

I have been working on a Space Crusade type game in what I will call my spare time for at least two years now and I am happy to say that the recent playtest has convinced me that it is looking pretty well to showcase in this alpha-testing version.

The theme of the game involves a squad of 5 space marines that enter an unknown giant vessel filled with all sorts of alien monsters and attempting to complete a primary and an optional secondary objective.

The game has a modular, randomly generated board that can reach a maximum of 5 x 5 square tiles (called sectors). As time passes and the space marines delve deeper into the spaceship, more and more enemies appear first on their Alien(tm)-like motion scanners and eventually in the flesh. A special 10-sided dice determines what type of monster a blip represents when the aliens come face to face with your squad.

The game is designed as a single player board game that can also be played cooperatively in a pinch. The game comes with a 6-mission campaign where you are given the command of 10 space marines, with each casaulty being permanent. Being able to deploy a maximum of 5 space marines, you can take up to 5 casaulties before you will have to deploy with a squad below strength.

It goes without saying that the game will come with a set of appropriate miniatures. The current plan is to have the entire game be available as a print to play but I will be looking into physical solutions as well. It goes without saying that all AtR subscribers will enjoy at least some of the content of the game as part of the subscription itself.

I cant wait to share more of the game with you guys and possibly even initiate a beta testing phase where you can help me iron out some elements of the game!

P.S. The photo was taken at the end of the mission when 3 out of 5 space marines managed to return to the extraction point with a score of aliens hot on their tail.

Woah, this is very cool.

Call them stellar crusaders ( since you're calling it space crusade) instead of space marines and that will help

I am doing my best to stay away from anything absolutely iconic of their IP. Thankfully the theme of claustaphobic corridors with aliens abound and a steroid-infused team of soldiers kicking doors isnt explicitly owned by anyone :)

I hope you don't get eyed by a certain corporation, they tend to do random exterminatus (alias lawsuit/cease-and-desist) over almost nothing... or they used to :)
