For me, Clara Bow feels like Taylor is finally comfortable and leaning into her legend status. Like she’s finally accepted that she doesn’t needs to keep proving herself, or try to make herself relevant, she knows she will be no matter what now and she can rest into her life more. Kinda positive feeling but still with shade to the industry as a whole for pitting women against each other. Like she’s looking forward to the next generation (“the future’s bright, dazzling”) and maybe even mentoring them. All with an added side of acknowledging that it’s hell on earth for her a lot of the time and she’s done pretending otherwise but she still thinks it’s worth it. It literally feels like it just ties up the whole emotional rollercoaster she took us on and wants to end with us feeling optimistic/ comforted by The Alchemy that she’s happy and in love again after the massive heartache/depressive episode she shared with us. Then we hit the back half of the album, but The Alchemy and Clara Bow together are like a nice breath of air before we do that.

I’m in the spotlight let’s do this” and “coming back where I belong, haven’t been around in so long” I feel like is USA. We saw all those pictures in NYC, she’s basically living in Kansas City while going to all the games, etc. after more than half a decade in “prison” in the UK coming back to the states is sort of the first thing I pictured, but I like the discussion about her referring to inner healing. I feel like she had a lot of work to do to get to the point to be ready to date again let alone write a song about being in love again.
