My thoughts on the "copying" BS as a person with a decent amount of musical ability, a basic understanding of music theory, and an appreciation of almost all music: there are only so many chords, and only so many ways to put them together. After decades of recorded music, it'd be more surprising if there weren't new songs that sound similar to older ones.

2024-09-06 04:50:42 +0000 UTCwait watching this made me have a realization about get him back!!! you were talking about it being a glitter pen song and i agree w that but also get him back is a little bit less shallow bc she’s talking about the side where she wants to get back together w him but also get him back like “get back at him” by getting revenge which i didn’t pick up on until the bridge when she says “i want to get him back and then get him back” i do see the we are never getting back together vibes in it being a silly little song but it’s still clever pen (not that wangbt isn’t but you know what i mean) anyway thanks for coming to my ted talk

Dead dove, do not eat. 🤣 you did get me thinking though.I wonder if the conch is supposed to represent the shofar. Lots of stuff associated with that including in relation to thorns, but it’s used now for the Jewish high holidays to represent a hopeful future. It was used as a declaration of war or a proclamation of freedom in different parts of the Bible (or full Torah - I’m not sure where it shows up exactly). Yes, I had to look that up because nerd me needed to know what it was originally for. Anyway, I appreciate you breaking it down so that I don’t just see it as bible-y. Also your summation of the Jews leaving Egypt would make for a much shorter Passover Seder.
