2023-09-11 00:50:45 +0000 UTCApologies if this is long, but I’m a little obsessed with the trilogy. First, Yoongi has been very open in the past about how his ambition/greed scared him and who it could turn him into. In both Daechitwa and Haegeum, he’s fighting what I see as the power hungry version of himself. The scar is healing in Haegeum as he himself becomes more healed and free. I think the smirk at the end is the power hungry version saying sure, you can kill me now,but I’ll always come back and you’ll have to fight me again. Just like he’s had to twice already. Someone pointed out that at the end of Haegeum, he’s actually carrying the corrupt cop’s jacket and obviously is riding in the police car. To me, it means he’s accepted that it’s a part of him, but he’s in charge of it rather than it being in charge of him. Now for Amygdala. That’s the area of the brain that stores trauma. It stores what it learned in the traumatic incident and tries to use that knowledge to “protect” you in scenarios that seem similar even though they actually aren’t. I’ve actually had to say to myself, no, you’re reacting to what happened in the past and that is not what is happening now. It’s a way to basically try to circumvent that “protection” PTSD is a prime example of the amygdala at work. And we scar ourselves with that trauma and what we do with it. That video is the perfect visual representation of what it’s like to fight your amygdala on a daily basis - I actually sent it to my therapist. It’s hard. It’s exhausting. It’s a serious fight to get to the point of making it to the door and out. And sometimes? You just can’t. I freaking sobbed when he went through the door at the end of his last concert. He’s done so much of the hard work on himself and it shows in how he carries himself now. He’s let go of a lot of the anger he was carrying and seems lighter and happier. Saying I’m proud of him is an understatement. Anyway, that’s my novel. Sorry!
