2023-04-07 07:15:17 +0000 UTCHi. About 2 yrs ago, I saw my 1st Dimash video. Soon after, I tried to research his background. He is a phenomenal artist but he is so because his natural talent was recognized when he was a toddler and it was nurtured by some of the greatest musicians and music teachers in Kazakhstan. He was proficient on the piano at 5 or 6. He attended an arts school from kindergarten through graduate school. I am not saying this to take away from his greatness but he did not " just happen" either. Secondly, to understand his musical choices and his message I found that he is proud of his heritage that survived domination by both the Rissuan Tsars and the Soviets. He promotes Kazakhstan's culture and language in many of his songs. He performs some traditional songs in his concerts but also has incorporated traditional musical instruments and vocalizations in his modern songs too. Dimash is a Muslim and his faith truly informs his work. At some point in is late teens early 20s he chose to focus on neo classical and modern music rather than opera. In an interview, he said said he dud some formbof cardio, usually swimming, every day to nurture his breathing capacity. He is a huge, huge fan of Michael Jackson and raps in a few of his recent works. He has several songs, including the one you watched, that cry for peace. He has spoken in a number of forums in the middle East and Asia on the ravages if war felt by children and the need fir peace. His parents are musicians and they performed in a musical group first singing modern music. His parents performed as a duo and were popular. His father is a music producer and his mother was appointed by their government to promote and develop arts. His father seems to be the strategiest behind his son's career. He has a worldwide fan base. He is fluent in his own language and Russuan, and speaks English and Chinese. He addition to these languages he sings in many others but I do not believe he actually speaks the others, could be wrong. I find him and the trajectory of his career fascinating. Actually, I came to be interested in BTS because of him. Their positive impact on their Country's culture; stance on world issues:and their incredible hard work and dedication to their artistry are shared by both. As you have said, the America music industry has kept us hooked on English songs. Arrogance...but the internet is exposing us to the rest of the world. I prefer Dimash's live performances over music videos. The audience just adds a spark. At first it was his 6 octave range that caught my attention but now it is his mastery of whatever is needed to fully express the song.
