Why not call it, idk, the Bezak Emirate? or commit to the setting being central/south asian? oh who am I kidding, the authors did not put this much thought into their oriental caricature. (also, this is a lovely and hilarious review!)

2025-09-03 19:41:24 +0000 UTCI'm aware in asking this question, I am being stupidly generous to the insanely racist authors, who seemed to have not researched anything, but do they speak a language called Bezak in Bezakistan? Because the suffix -stan is similarish to -land, and in I think all of the countries with that suffix, their names in English and their national language follows the form of language + -stan (e.g. Tajik is the form of Persian spoken in Tajikistan and Kyrgyz is spoken in Kyrgyzstan). Again, I feel like I'm being too generous, but I'm morbidly curious and also, looking at the name, I'm wondering if Blake and Black just looked at a map of Asia and smashed together the names Uzbekistan and Kazakhstan. Especially since Bezak is a surname and a Slavic surname at that. Also don't quote me on this because it's coming from my memories of being in high school and hearing one of my friends speak Urdu but I think the Urdu word for basic sounds similar to bezak

I mentioned I reread this book when voting was happening, having not read it since I was a teenager, and kept going oh. Oh oof. Oh that’s bad. Yikes. And realized belatedly how entwined this is with the prior books in the series, but. You have done great things with this terrible material. THANK.

I feel like you could write the exact same plot, even including the #NoHomo we're only focused on the FMC no guy on guy action stuff, but the guys are all old friends/business partners and absolutely nothing would change. Why write incest when they're not into incest kink???
