Y’all are definitely wrong about Damon’s perspective. He was upset because Stefan let Elena die. He wanted her to have a human life and didn’t want her to become something she despised.

Now she’s dead, her conscious decision can be exactly what she feels as she now has eternity and is even more so aware of what she feels. Thats why it’s now back to decision making again.
