I think Alaric is overstepping his authority here. He's not Elena's father or even step-father or legal guardian - she is 18 and an adult and he has no right to tell her who to be friendly with or what to do. He's been watching her and Damon for the past couple of eps and he doesn't approve of their friendship. It's like he's jealous of the easy way they've been with one another lately, how she can smile and laugh with Damon. Not sure which of them he fancies LOL. Seriously though Damon is right about Elena trying to turn him into Stefan so her friends approve. He's not an idiot and won't be treated like one and just let it go. He should have just told Alaric to mind his own business. As for the council, Alaric has no right to a place there. Elena is now 18 and legally adult and she would have more right to be there as a founding family member. That's what he should have been told. Sorry, no, you're not a founding family member but we're willing to let Elena in.

Once again Anna asks him what did Bonnie say and he says oh I don’t even understand what’s going on. Duh, that’s why you talk to your girlfriend the super witch who risked her magic to bring you back to life. Yes you didn’t break up with Anna but she’s dead. Your girls is alive and fully part of what’s happening to you. I don’t care if Anna talks with that I’m a sweet innocent victim girl energy, Jermey not Telling Bonnie until the fire situation happens is unacceptable. It’s definitely ok for him to care but Anna trying to get him to think about his healing for her is messy. As far as Damon goes I don’t think they’re telling him this is inappropriate time, especially Caroline. She was going for you can’t date Damon, not it’s not the right time to date Damon. She doesn’t think he’s good enough.

2024-03-22 15:02:20 +0000 UTCDamon reaction to everyone telling him to behave and be good, and what not. in his frustration he decided that since everyone has made him into the defacto villain, he'll play the monster. You even get this reasoning when Elena tells him he isn't a monster, and he responds with I'm a vampire. Everyone is treating him as a monstrous vampire still to some regard, moreso this episode, so he is just people pleasing by playing the evil vampire for them. Taking the easier route so to speak

2024-03-17 20:31:38 +0000 UTC100% - Now granted, I'm team delena so rewatching is just fun and i can appreciate it as a "shipper" - but I completely understand how it can feel rushed. Again I think that has to do with stefan not being around - allowing them to connect on things they didn't before. So now it's almost like a slap in the face of something completely new only 4 episodes in, even though its not "new".

2024-03-17 14:39:11 +0000 UTCI think this is the first time everyone else (Alaric, Caroline, Bonnie etc) are really seeing the ”thing” between Damon and elena - because Stefan isnt here for the first time in a very long time. The absence of Stefan is only making elena and Damon grow closer. They are hanging out without him and the ”restrictions” stefan brings along are gone. (not that delena didnt have something before stefan left they obv. did) for the better or worse is based on opinion but I think thats why its a bit more pushed in this Episode - we are like the rest of the people seeing it and being like ”hey what about stefan?” ”This is too fast” - even though we knew the chemistry existed before- its just on other terms now
