Hello Patrons, here is what I can share for the month of September:
I have secured a footage sourcing deal to acquire 4K scans of STS-41B EVA activity (16mm). I don't have a specific timetable on that but I believe it should arrive in October.
I have done lots of sorting through mission audio and TV, upscaling what works well, and sorting for editing. Some of this material is now available for Patrons, link provided!
I found some pretty good STS-51A onboard film, also available in the link above.
I have submitted a request to the national archives seeking approval to digitize STS41C and STS41G magazines.
I am currently talking with The IMAX Corporation, inquiring into the legal status, location, and cataloguing of on-orbit 70MM material shot by NASA astronauts. I do not expect to be able to use it in this video, but the interest and momentum may get the ball rolling.
Do you remember the following IMAX films:
-Hail Columbia
-The Dream Is Alive
-Blue Planet
-Destiny in Space
Well, they shot anywhere from 3x-5x more than they used, and all of that is just sitting in a filing cabinet somewhere. We don't even know how much of it there is, or what all was captured. I intend to spearhead an effort into trying to recover it, if I can.
Please check out the footage I have already made available, and I will let you know when the 4K STS-41B spacewalk footage comes in.
