Thinking about next project — pivoting to Mariner program.

Hey, Patrons. I’ve been doing a lot of thinking lately on how the next video is going to be framed. I very much like to think that my work is unique not only for its quality, which I always aspire to maximize, but also for the role it fulfills within the greater ecosystem of content on the internet. In other words — I try to make videos that are not just “my take” on a subject that has already been covered by other creators, but rather videos that are completely unique in how they categorize and group together the story. For example, the MMU video — nowhere else are Shuttle flights #10-14 packaged together, and I think it’s a great arc for a lot of different reasons.

The more I think about it, the more I realize that doing a complete and total history of Martian exploration does not fit this requirement. Other creators such as DKIS already have made videos with the same conceit. Therefore, I am going to break up Mars into two eventual videos — we will study it from space in one video, and from the surface in another.

Therefore, I am changing the next project to cover the Mariner program in its entirety. This will both serve as a convenient “prequel” to Voyager, and compliment it as a coverage of the inner solar system. We will visit Mars (but not land there), Venus and Mercury, and this will essentially absorb the older Mariner 10 video that already exists.

I feel much more passionate and excited about this idea, and I am going to get started soon.
