On Long Plays
Added 2019-09-09 04:55:51 +0000 UTCSeeing some misinformation regarding this so going to explain everything here:
Regarding Long Plays Long plays were cancelled after EarthBound for a few reasons
1. Viewership drops off Hard. I would rather make videos that reach more people and have more impact, my time and resources are limited.
2. Hard to record, because a game can take so long to finish and as we don''t record every day. it's hard to keep track of conversations and where we were. this leads to 3
3. Unhappy. I was unhappy with how the series turned out, if you watched it as a playlist it wouldn't always flow due to breaks in recording and such discussed in 2.
Quite a few people asked about Long Plays so I came up with a way to supply them. As an ADDITIONAL Patreon Content. This has been happening for the past month on Patreon. Our $5 and above tiers get 2 Long Play's. This content is ADDITIONAL, on top of the standard schedule of videos, live streams, etc. If Patreon did not exist you simply would not get the series at all, nothing is being Paywalled as it is ADDITIONAL content.
If you don't support on Patreon you are still going to get the standard 4-5 videos a week and more. In addition, you get the first episode when a series starts, and once it ends the other videos will start going public. This is just early access, like everything else we do. You are literally getting benefit from other people being patrons. I am always finding more ways to give benefits to Patrons and so far it has been very well received.

Questions/Statements Answered:
1. "true, but, in regard to youtubers/simple video creators, it shouldn't be something you hide. Their should be additional content, like gabes writing, that gets the special treatment. Not the standard stuff that gets called premium."
Explained above, it IS additional content.
2. "even if the paywall isn't there, they will still watch it. Viewership doesn't matter if they have a patreon. Delivering a product does. Anyone not giving them $5 is now disincentivized to continue giving them money."
Wow, this comment. Wow. Ok let's break it down, "viewership doesn't matter" It is the ONLY thing that matters, I don't know if you've noticed but we have been on around 6-7K subs for 1 year+. I want to expand this. I want more people to watch, I want to build my community. How do we do this? Viewership. I'd really like to be involved in Promotions for Doom Eternal, what do PR look at? Viewership.
"Delivering a product does" If you want to talk like a consumer I'd suggest you start paying us per video, the primary definition of product in relation to a product in the way you are talking about. *Product*: "an article or substance that is manufactured or refined for sale." This is not a store, videos are uploaded regardless if people support via Patreon or not. If I have to deliver a product to anyone it is the Patrons, as they are paying. And this is what I am doing, it is additional content for them that non Patrons also get to experience. Win win yes?
If anyone has any questions regarding how Long Plays will work from here on out, please feel free to ask away.

2019-09-10 01:17:12 +0000 UTCI didn't realise there were people complaining about the $5 long plays. They're an extra for patrons that are going to be released later on anyway. It just seems really petty for people to complain about them when you guys already release such a vast number of videos for free.

2019-09-09 07:57:52 +0000 UTCFor what it's worth (ie. 120 bucks a year) I'm extremely grateful that you're willing to continue producing longplays even if they were actively detrimental to growing your brand and are still, at best, probably a suboptimal use of your recording time. They're something I always looked forward to over single-episode vignettes, not that I don't enjoy those too, and I appreciate that you're giving people the option of voting with their wallet.
2019-09-09 06:38:16 +0000 UTCThe amount to get the extra shit is so fucking trivial I pay it myself just to comment here without setting off Aaron's 2-step verification. Comments like "Some of you are so fucking stupid it amazes me that you haven't choked to death on your own fists." If you like us enough just to watch the abundance of free shit, great. If you like us enough to pay the TRIVIAL quantity to see more, great. If you moan that giving the people who like us a lot some extra shit is unfair, swallow your own fucking knuckles.
