While it isn't retro, I'd like to suggest Princess Remedy in a world of hurt. It's nes styled and free on steam. It's very charming and worth a look.

One of the old disney SNES or Genesis games. The ones that were completely different depending on which console you played on.

I'd recommend Fate/Unlimited Codes. It's a fighting game, I think it was on the PS2. I've always wanted to see the two of you play it.

SNES Desert Strike, simple game with simple objectives. Could also do something like SSX, well known game and fun game to play.

Would love to see you play a round of one of the Gamecube Mario Parties. 4 was my favourite. Good variety, not too long, good source of competition.

Psi-Ops: The Mindgate Conspiracy on ps2 was a pretty fun game thats probably not held up so could be some good waffle with that.

War of the Monsters was an entertaining fighting game on the PS2. Smack an opponent around a city and occasionally wreck the place Rampage-style

I would like to suggest Ys Book 1 because surprise surprise I suggest a Japanese game. Enjoy bump combat, its not too long either and you should get far enough in it easily... yes you have carte blanche to use walkthroughs to make it easier.

Quest for Glory 1 or Heroine's Quest on the PC. Super Mario RPG. Lost Vikings. Prince of Persia: Sands of Time.

I remember the Ape Escape games being pretty fun, 2 and 3 in particular were pretty nuts. You can power through levels pretty fast, plus it’s good to talk over since theres only short dialogues in between missions and before bosses.

Honestly if you guys can find it, Warhammer 40'000: Fire Warrior. PS2 era game, has a great janky rapid-fire crouch animation for t-bagging enemies. And It'd be neat to hear Gabe talk about the Tau Faction since he played that army for a time. :D

If you can find it I would recommend Ring of Red. It's a PS2 game that involves mechs fighting Communism in post WW2 Japan. You move your mechs on a map in like a turn based game but all combat is in real time. Also there is a German man named Rodriguez for some reason.

If it's PS2, I recommend Rumble Roses. Specifically, playing through the infamous Story Mode. If MAME, I sent a list of possible games to you to try out but I've misplaced it so... uhh... 'Ninja Baseball Bat Man'? 'Crime Fighters'? 'Golden Axe II'? 'Pit Fighter'? Any of those sound good? ;P

Pikmin! Pikmin 1 is pretty short all things considered, but Pikmin 2 is much longer and equally good. Other suggestions are SSX Tricky, Rayman Arena, Super Monkey Ball, Rogue Squadron 2, and Hit & Run.

I know it's not that old but I want to make you aware of Enchanted Arms. It's a From Software JRPG published by Ubisoft so I don't expect you to finish it but the first hour or two has some interesting voice acting. For the jokes alone it might be worth looking at. Failing that, Team Buddies is always a good one. You two talking over swearing, angry, violent tic tacs could be fun.

i'd love to see you guys check out robot alchemic drive. a hidden gem of a game for the ps2. in my opinion it's the quintessential giant fighting robot game. expect janky controls and voice acting that would give resident evil a run for its money.

Maybe one of the n64 or Gamecube Mario Parties? Might be a good game the two of you could sit down for an hour or two and play through a board, with good waffling opportunities in between minigames. Gamecube ones in particular emulate well through dolphin and although they came with the weird mic thing it's never even required
