People have already mentioned it in here, but keeping JKR in the cultural zeitgeist is a problem! She's mentioned numerous times that all profits she gets from Harry Potter goes towards funding anti-trans legislation and y'all are like, "keeping her in the zeitgeist isn't a problem?!?!?!" Do they not know how much money she puts into this shit?!?! There's a bit of a grey area with this when it's a dead author. When the author is dead, they dont actively profit off the books, so there's an argument it's okay. But during the prime of her TERF career?!?;?? No. I love how they are like, "she acknowledged that JKR bad, so that's okay and she's said she's not financially gonna support her" okay but is there gonna change once her kids are hooked on Harry Potter and want their own books, buy merch, play the game, watch the new show, etc? Probably not. The mom's gonna cave and buy them that stuff. This first story just made me so upset and disappointed in them for having a clearly bad take on this, especially coming from people who call themselves allies to the trans community.

They are gonna wanna buy merch, probably gonna want to get their own books, watch the HBO Max show, etc and now you are supporting JKR. I just hate this argument that cis people have where it's just like, "death of the author, it's fine. They are just old books. They're just kids books", but not understand the harm that JKR and Harry Potter have on trans people. Keeping Harry Potter in the cultural zeitgeist is a problem!

Like, I just don't know how you square 'okay she pinky promised she's just giving the kid the old books so what's the problem' with, ya know, she's getting the kid into Harry Potter? A franchise with massive public presence and an HBO show coming out soonish? Like what happens when the child wants merch or whatever? Oh look you're giving money to the lady who wants to KILL ME, cool! Beyond that you guys got so caught up eagerly defending the lady who told her brother to fuck off for not liking her supporting someone who wants to do material harm to him you missed that the 'stakes' weren't even 'YOU MUST DESTROY YOUR BOOKS IN SHAME' but just a REALLY reasonable and light ask of 'can you at least talk to the kid and explain that JKR is, ya know, a straight up neo-nazi?' and she said fuck off no.

If there isn't some sort of statement on this, I'll be horribly disappointed. Do better, guys.

I think most of us are totally willing to move past everything, but it’s been days and we need to hear something, anything from the guys on this.

I think for all the bits and stuff that they do, I think their hearts in the right place, I think their opinions will change as soon as they see all the feedback in the comment section, I just don't like the vibe of the comment section that feels like they're trying to paint the guys in a terrible light? Like they hire and are friends with trans women, denounce JKR like 30 times and obviously understand both sides of the situation, and give advice on how to properly have handled this. I just don't really get the whole turning on them because they had a bad political take once.
