It could just be me but when the guys were like “it’s something the daughters are going to remember forever” I’m like “I have 0 memories of pre-K”. Maybe if the graduation was disappointing I’d remember it but I feel like it’s being blown out of proportion esp since a parent will be there regardless.

2025-05-30 22:33:35 +0000 UTCFor the second one, I'm 100% on the "priortize the kids" side, but it sounds like the guy could be doing a little more to ease her frustration. "so it's no big deal" stands out. Tell her it is a big deal but your hands are tied, you wish you could be there, tell her you'll do your best to join the after-party or something, even hold a mini graduation with just you two the next chance you get. The kids are more important, but that doesn't mean she's not important.

2025-05-30 18:37:57 +0000 UTCI don't mind the first one as much, if I'm watching a movie with someone then them being there is something that I want to improve the experience. Riffing on a couch with my SO is one of my favourite things to do, but that's the thing, we're doing it *together*. If one person isn't into it or the other is overshadowing an interesting film, then yes you're being an ass.
