Before the lights went out, Stacey wasn’t a monster. She was just tired. Tired of fake smiles, greasy uniforms, and sleazy truckers calling her “sweetheart” for a fifty-cent tip. Every shift felt the same — the buzzing lights, the smell of old grease, the endless line of faces asking for extra ketchup and giving nothing back. Sometimes she’d stare at them across the counter and imagine doing awful things — just to break the routine. She never did, of course. Not until Sonny Tropano “upgraded” her.
After the accident — or whatever the hell he called it — Stacey stopped pretending. The uniform became gold. And all those little daydreams about the customers?
She finally made them real.
Thanks to my friend Sopita for another amazing sketch <3
