Thoughts on the book "Girl on Girl: How Pop Culture Turned a Generation of Women Against Themselves"
Added 2025-07-21 21:56:52 +0000 UTCI am reading this fascinating book called Girl on Girl: How Pop Culture Turned a Generation of Women Against Themselves by Sophie Gilbert and just wanted to shout out different passages that stuck out to me. It covers pop culture through a timeline, and how different eras of pop culture ('losing your virginity' romcom movies, tabloids, photoshoots, porn, Us Weekly sections, etc) have all impacted culture and made women turn on each other. It is sometimes disheartening to read, but also fascinating!!!

You should check out Beach Bunny! They have a ton of feminist songs and they’re kinda indie/pop. So many of there songs too are just about being a girl and they’re so good
