If that really is the case, that is really interesting given how longggg SNL has been around. I def get it might not be their priority but the musical artists do sm to bring them good publicity even when the show itself isn’t particularly popular w the public itself. And I imagine they have soooo much money

I also saw that Pete Davidson reel where he mentioned that “$3000 an episode” thing and I actually have a memory of hearing that from Bowen Yang too at one point. Not sure if it was said on his podcast or what but I had heard that before 🤔. I agree though, it MUST be for the newbies.

I guess Bowen yang is technically the third Asian cast member with the first 2 being rob schneider (Filipino descent) and Fred Armisen (Korean descent) but as an Asian person myself I’d say Bowen is the first really visible Asian representation… I know there are many different types and looks of Asian people but I still feel like Rob and Fred weren’t known to be Asian and not considered Asian representation
