On this topic I honestly think about You Need to Calm Down and have two trains of thought 1. Either she’s gay and this is her way of coming out while not coming out (maybe someone in her inner circle isn’t supportive of her being out) 2. Why the hell is she writing what she intended to be a “queer anthem” if she’s not queer? It’s giving privileged groups trying to profit off the plight of marginalized groups….

2023-11-03 04:16:50 +0000 UTCI think I could understand if she was upset about someone saying that her relationships with men are actually invalid because she's secretly gay, but idk, it's like she's happy to invoke queer themes (utilising a male speaker in Betty; like all of You Need To Calm Down at the very least) but then doesn't know how to feel when her queer audience run with it? Also her association her relationship with Karlie Kloss/female friends as having been 'sexualised' reminds me of that long-standing thing of sapphic/fem relationships being inherently sexual ??? it felt like this should have been a draft of the prologue

I feel like that's why she's under such a microscope all the time, bc people know she will listen and try to overcorrect. And it makes sense to me that Taylor is constantly reinventing herself, like you said she's more external than internal so she probably thinks changing her look will change her as a person. She's also a romantic so she fully commits to a vibe.

2023-10-26 19:20:38 +0000 UTCwhile i sympathize with taylor and the shit with the media she went though, it sometimes reads like she had it worse than anyone else, when she had all other factors going for her in her favor. like she was a little white blonde girl who didn’t take a stance on politics (at the time). for the most part, she was fine ya know? she sometimes seems to ignore a lot of her privilege, and when she’s already living in a way that is unfathomable to the general population, it comes off as very out of touch. idk maybe i’m being a hateful bitch but i’m just tired of her broken record of feminism (taylor’s version)
