I think a lot of her "beef" comes from a place of it being cool to shit on her for the majority of her life. Like I remember being in high school and being told liking her was uncool. And everyone thought that. She is privileged, all celebrities are. She is rich, all celebrities are. She sometimes takes things personally that weren't directed at her, I think we've all done that. She overreacts, she's dramatic, she's annoying sometimes. I don't think she's doing anything that I wouldn't do were I in her position. And I get being frustrated at her mistakes, but the only reason you can be is because her life has become completely public. I think we all have done things as bad as her worst mistakes. I still love you and I still like hearing from you, but I think you're getting too harsh on Taylor. That being said I know you're hard on a lot of celebrities and maybe this is just your standards for everyone. You probably wouldn't like me very much though because I'm messy lol.

It really bothers me how so many stan groups prevent anyone from discussing any of the negative aspects of big stars like Taylor, Selena, Ariana… the list goes on. Taylor isn’t a god, she’s a flawed human being who’s been firmly in the public eye for over a decade. we’ve seen her do great things, and we’ve seen her do really not-so-great things, and it should be okay to say that. I don’t like to call myself a “swiftie” or “gaylor” or any of the nicknames for fans of anyone else because the people that claim the titles are unhinged children whose parents don’t check their phone use. It HURT when Taylor didn’t say a word after roe v wade was taken away, and when states started enacting laws directed at ppl who do drag. she doesn’t speak against gun violence either. I didn’t judge harshly when she stayed quiet through state & national elections, but this? Sure, i get not wanting to interfere with democracy and being aware of your ability to sway the public, but if there’s any time to TRY to sway people, it’s when our rights to privacy and freedoms are being attacked. so she put a rainbow on the stage… It was painfully disappointing. I feel like she’s stuck in this 00s/2010s mentality that she can’t really curse, can’t explicitly talk about sex, can’t be anything but a WASPy good girl. Taylor, you can talk about getting railed and drag congress through the mud just like Olivia does, if you’d just stop being so scared of it. She might lose a few fans but she’d gain back a lot more that turned away because she’s silent when it really counts.

Taylor is an incredible businesswoman, but I think a big problem with her persona is that we can clearly see her constantly trying to be cool and superior, but she simply is not innately cool and doesn’t understand how to play the game of cool. She has always reminded me of a medium-popular girl in high school who is desperate to be the MOST popular, and in the process ends up being way meaner than the truly cool and popular girls. She tries too hard, is too fixated on her reputation, is too dramatic and scheming, and can’t stay in her lane. She’s the opposite of Rihanna, who I would argue is the most cool because she just is her bad self and doesn’t seem to care what people think. If Taylor could figure out who she authentically is and lean into that rather than constantly trying to convince us that she’s whatever persona she picked that year, I think she’d resonate with more people. Maybe she’ll find it in time, but until then I think she’ll continue to annoy people.

There does seem to be a group of people who don't think the TS/Olivia feud is real. They believe that they don't promote each other's work so Olivia isn't just pegged as the big TS fan. About once a year I have to work with some of her financial advisors and she’s a capitalist to her core and it’s just gross about having the multiple vinyls/cds and the only thing that’s different is the cover. I also don’t get why swifties defend her so much like she needs to be protected, because she can’t defend herself; the infantilization of this 33 year old woman is weird. Swifties need to learn to enjoy the music and move on, she’s not your friend and she doesn’t care about you personally.

Like he told me his favorite album was red and I asked him his thoughts on the drama around it and he told me he had never once thought about it.
