Priest Class
Added 2025-09-05 21:22:21 +0000 UTCHey all! Here's a PDF for the priest class for my streamlined revision of 5e. A few notes:
Subclass is replaced with a set of divine blessings, each themed to a type of deity.
I've fully replaced spell slots with spell points.
You'll notice that some class features also allow you to spend spell points.
Divine blessings also consume channel divinity. CD was already heavily influenced by domain, so I folded that style of benefit into blessings.
Uses of channel divinity are also pushed into spell points to keep things simple and to give players more flexibility. I'm not crazy with 5e's tendency to force players to track multiple buckets of points and uses.
Spells are a curated list pulled from the SRD. Once I work through arcane spells and how they balance with non-casters, I'll take a look at buff and healing spells.
You might notice that many of the blessings give smite-style benefits. This class focuses on an armored holy warrior. My take on the paladin is going to focus more on auras and protection, with smite channeling through that aura to do stuff. For instance, a radiant smite might damage a target and then buff the paladin's aura with better protection against ranged attacks by creating a dazzling aura. That will also tie to stuff like paladin healing and detect evil-style effects. In essence, the paladin is a living, holy relic, with the area around them sanctified (or desecrated for anti-paladins!) to their faith.

Oops. Hit enter. I can't do much on specifics.... But I love the idea of blessings.
