New HWS Patron Benefits
Added 2022-03-25 10:22:09 +0000 UTCDear HWS Patrons,
with the release of the new HWS RE 1.7 season today, there is a fresh air coming into HWS Patron as well.
On the point: HWS Elite get more benefits! They will get the convenience to have Origin Abilities inherited. New Origin overview:
- Give Engineers a global HWS Recycle usage from level 1. Other Origins are bound to EGS Recycle Zones, even with Recycle Level 5. (reminder you can buy EGS Recycle Zones too)
- Give Explorers the Discovery Credit bonus back. Each Solar System you discovered first, gives you cumulative Elemental Bank credits
- Give Dealer daily auto interests delivery
- Give Fighter global OCD get usage (you still need a zone to put items in your OCD and all other Origins need the OCD Zone for both. The OCD Zone can be also bought.)
OCD get usage will get streamlined with OAM. Every ocd:get outside of a zone, even for Fighter, will cost a fee. The fee is different between PvE and PvP and also different per OCD item category. - Rspectively, HWS Pro Patrons don't have the Daily Auto Interest benefit anymore. It got moved up to the HWS Elite Tier.
Summary:
As HWS Patron Elite you get all those Origin abilities as well. Or different put: As HWS Patron Elite you have the convenience to not visit the HWS Quadrolith at ECC every time you want to change your Origin ability.
Looking forward to your feedback and have a great HWS RE season.
HWS+ coming next! :)
Your HWS Team

2024-12-10 21:18:21 +0000 UTCThanks for sharing more thoughts on this! The Marketplace Filters were an unfortunate mistake by me. They were never meant to be free. If they would have never be in from the start, I think it wouldn't be that bad. But now it's like taking something away. In the last moment I checked the ingame trading station and saw it has no filter as well, nor a sortable column header. So I thought it's kinda ok for non-patrons to live with it. In HWS Connect you still have the sort + CTRL + F option at least. About your weaker form of P2W, yes. And many think the same as you. But when time is money counts for you, I must admit what pays my time? I do HWS/Empyrion for living and if my filters and features save time for you, basically at my cost, where is the line for me to continue or even think of expanding? I still hope to get 4 HWS servers in total one day. HWS RE EU + HWS RE NA and HWS+ EU and HWS+ NA. That would be perfect. But right now it's just too expensive. Anyways I see what you mean with the super origin. And yes, maybe another option would be to make it a Supporter Package, which in the end can be bought with HWS Ingots. The free to play currency. A Quest also works, good idea.

2022-03-25 19:04:31 +0000 UTCI completely understand the issues with the Patreon - especially around low monthly payments, as with Patreons cut, currency conversion etc I can see how those would be problematic. The two areas i always struggle with are 1.) Making a game inconvenient on purpose - as a means to sell convenience - things like the Filters etc would fall under that, as those are pretty basic functionality that you would expect a website to have. What i would prefer to see if "bonus" content for supporters, rather than taking away content for non-supporters. To continue with the example of the filters / marketplace etc, I'd suggest things like buy orders - with a holding area, or alerts on specific things for sale / at a specific price etc. Regarding number 2.) P2Win - My definition of P2Win is probably a bit weaker than yours, as I wouldn't say it is only something that is impossible for a player to get, but would also include something that gives significant time saving, time is money after all. That said, I actually think the "super origin" or a Patreon meets your definition of P2Win as well - There isn't a way in game, for a player to earn all Origins at the same time, yes you can swap, but you can't have them all active at once, unless you pay - that is literally the only way to get it. If, for example, you could earn all origins through a process of grinding / question completion etc, I'd agree that it is pay for convenience, rather than P2win.

2022-03-25 12:36:54 +0000 UTCDaily auto interests are moved now to the Elite Tier, yes, with more benefits for the Elite Tier in general. You paid $1 for 1 month, so the remaining 5 days you still get your %1 interest. The change is in effect with the new month.

2022-03-25 11:35:32 +0000 UTCThanks for posting and sharing your thoughts! Appreciate it. With "sell it back" you mean the restructure of some benefits? Moving something in a higher Tier? This is always a difficult thing to do and unfortunate but over time, necessary. In this case, after a lot of analysis, the HWS Pro Tier is currently massively overpowered / overvalued. As I said, more tier changes coming when HWS+ is coming. The full story is, that starting with Patreon, with no knowledge at all, I thought "quantity over quality". So a lot of Pro are better than few higher Tiers. I was double wrong about this idea and also ignored the fees I have to pay for Paypal and Patreon and my own bank account for Dollar<>Euro conversion. Short: Pro is not even the tier with the most Patrons in, nor are the benefits justified for just $1 aka ~20 Cents. Regarding Super character aka p2w. I see where you are coming from. I still see more the convenience and free to play aspect into it instead of super p2w character. P2w in my book is a clear pay gate, content, that a free to play player never ever can get without real money, which is not the case here. I would like to get more feedback about it.

2022-03-25 11:31:16 +0000 UTCI have to say my initial thoughts are this crosses the line from "Supporting HWS" - in to Pay to win mechanics. I'm also really not a fan of the current trend in mainstream gaming where Developers specifically remove already built convenience - only to offer to sell it back, and this feels very similar to that approach. I'll need to consider my thoughts a bit more, but not a fan of this initially. The whole point of the different Origins is having to choose what your character specialises in, so being able to pay for a "super character" that automatically gets all specialisms is a bit much,
