Gameplay Loop (12/10)
Added 2024-12-10 09:10:08 +0000 UTCWeekly devlog time! Last time didn't have a whole lot to talk about, I was supposed to set up having a portal transition between levels, but due to extraneous circumstances I was unable to do it. So, was I able to get it done this time?
Indeed I did.
So now with this, all the pieces are now in place to make this into an actual proper game. It'd be a game without a lot going on, but the foundation for an actual gameplay loop is finally in place. And so with that out of the way, my focus will now be on adding all those elements that will make the game more fun, and having them work with the level editor. The level editor is actually going to be by largest goal going forward, as it's currently the only thing between me and releasing a new build of this game.
Compared to the demo I release a few years ago, there hasn't actually been a whole lot of changes or additions that are ready to be featured in the game (and in fact you might have even noticed that pass-through platforms are nowhere to be found in newer levels). Part of this was the lack of a clear direction up until this point, but it was also due to a lot of work being put into a custom level editor. So because that's the main thing I've been working on, I'd like to get it to a point where it's fully usable and has all the essential features working. Not only will that make it easier to build and iterate on level ideas once it's done, It'll also allow people other than myself to experiment with level designs, and potentially create levels far more interesting than I could manage on my own.
When it is finally finished, access to this new version of the game with the level editor will be a patreon exclusive reward, and at that point I plan on properly launching my patreon with a discord for people to discuss the game and everything.
