Baldur's Gate 3: Tabaxi Mod - Version 0.2

Here's an update that adds new ocelot and void cat fur options, as well as versions of the DnD 5E tabaxi racial bonuses.

The "Feline Agility" ability should work the same as the tabletop version, giving tabaxi a free dash that's available at the start of combat and after any turn where they don't move. The "Cat's Claws" bonus in tabletop converts tabaxis' 1d4 bashing unarmed damage to 1d6 slashing- unfortunately, it doesn't currently seem to be possible to convert unarmed damage to slashing in the BG3 engine, so the mod's version just adds 2 slashing damage to all unarmed attacks. Once the official modding tools are released, I'll take another shot at implementing something closer to the tabletop rules.

The tabletop rules also give tabaxi a bonus to climbing speed, but since that's not a thing in BG3, I've left in the falling damage resistance to compensate.

Note that the fur patterns have to be changed by selecting subraces, since I wasn't able to find a good way to switch out body textures in the appearance editor. If you've already created a tabaxi character, you won't be able to switch subraces, but using the attached "Retexture" zip, you should be able to retexture the default subrace to match one of the two new ones.  The included readme.txt outlines how to set that up.

So, after some end user troubleshooting - if you click Feline Agility, then immediately use SotW-Dash, you get your full movement. If you click Feline Agility, move around, punch some fools, realize your final corpse-in-waiting is just out of reach, *then* click SotW, it doesn't add any movement at all. Hope that helps!

The issue with disappearing clothing should be fixed in the next update, and that'll also include playable female Tabaxi. That's almost done- I'm just trying to fix a couple of final, difficult bugs, and will hopefully be able to release it today or tomorrow, assuming I can find some solutions. I'll look into the Step of the Wind Dash issue next.

Coupla things: 1. is the 'swinging branch' a known issue (you know what I'm talkin about LOL) 2. Using feline agility as a monk seems to disable / negate their ability to use Step of the Wind Dash as a BA. Am I just derping this? 3. Female bodies and ability to show worn armor/robes (which solves 1 lol) are still beg-worthy updates. All in all - phenomenal. And thank you again for doing this!!! <3

normally you cant acess classes or races that the host of the match doesnt have installed, they simply doesnt appear. if you are the host, then the game will ask your friend for downloading the same files.

I haven't been able to replicate the "changes pending" bug so far. Is it possible that could be due to a conflict with a different mod you have installed? The randomize thing is a known issue- I'll put some more work into figuring it out once I have the females complete.

Honestly, I'm not sure what would happen in that case- with only one person using the mod, it might display with invisible models, and the custom ability might lead to weird problems. Or, it might just not let you join a game with a different mod list. I recommend sending your friend the mod and asking them to use it while you're playing. It shouldn't interfere with their existing campaign, and may work correctly in multiplayer if everyone has it installed. If you do that and have a moment, please let me know if it works.

Thanks for putting the work in on making this mod, it's awesome. I'd like to install this mod for my personal BG3 campaigns, but I'm also in a multiplayer campaign with friends. Once I have the mod installed, how will that interact with my friend's campaign? They are hosting and I'd wouldn't be a tabaxi in their campaign, since they aren't using the mod (or any mods, for that matter), so I'm worried that installing a mod will interfere with their campaign.

I found an issue with using the randomize feature in the game. I may just be ignorant, but I have a Changes Pending error that prevents the ability to proceed out of the character creator. If there's an apply changes button, I'm just being dumb, otherwise may be worth mentioning to not use randomize for the time being. Noticed I was able to get the Tabaxi to have horns using randomize, but otherwise doesn't seem to be an intended feature.

Most of the outfits should be visible, though there are a few in 0.2 that I missed, which should be fixed in the next version. If most of the outfits are invisible, that may be the result of a conflict with another mod- I recommend testing with just the Tabaxi mod enabled, if that's not the case already.

Hello! There's a bug with other armor where if I wear anything other than some defaults it just shows the character nude. Is there any fix? Thanks

I have encountered an issue where equipping the Jolty Vest renders the character nude. I have not attempted to equip any other unique armor or clothing set, so this is my first experience with this glitch.

I just noticed that this mod adds +2 Dexterity racial bonus. There were racial bonuses to abilities in the demo, but in the full game they were removed. All races have 8/8/8/8/8/8 before assigning ability point, except Tabaxi who have 10 Dexterity. This makes them too overpowered.

Right now it is possible to create tabaxi character, but not guardian. Would it be difficult to change?

I think I'll work on getting all of the cosmetic items compatible right after I finish the female models- that way, I'll be able to make and test the edits to all of the male and female models at the same time. I've just started on the female models now, so that shouldn't be too far away.

It works! Just one note: modsettings.lsx needs the default node "GustavDev", which your version doesn't have. Without "GustavDev" I got error "The main menu mod requires the level. Make sure to clear any local mods and try again." So instead of replacing modsettings.lsx with your version, I added the new node "Tabaxi" to the default file, and then everything worked just fine.

Hey, I love this mod! I was wondering if you'd be okay with me releasing a Unique Tav patch for it when it releases? I know that's probably some time away lol, but I like to reach out when I can. I'm KittHaven over on the Nexus and I've released a bunch of UT patches for other race mods too! It's my fav thing to make! I can make it so that replacing the textures is a simple drag and drop ordeal as well so the loose textures would look something like this: Generated\Public\Shared\Assets\unique_tav\BODY\TAB\MALE And then each subrace would use the same textures but they can be swapped at any point, even without closing the game as luckily hotloading is a thing with BG3 lmao. I'm excited for this mod since I wanted to play as my Tabaxi, who's my first player character ever since I started playing D&D a few years ago. Thing is, she's a cheetah so I'm hoping that's a pattern in the works.

That's a possibility, although I'd also like for the slashing damage to work with the monk's attacks and to stack with bonuses from monk items, which may not be doable if I'm adding a separate ability.

I also loaded a save in Act 3 where I had romanced a companion(Astarion) and the kisses work amazingly, and it's very cute imo. I've never been more hyped for a mod before this!

I do not know modding, I just wanted to ask. Would it be possible to make the claw feature add an ability that deals 1d6 slashing damage instead of trying to replace the normal unarmed strike?
